It’s a shame. Club legend getting sacked. Havertz and Werner were world class last season. They haven’t settled and will come good next season but their failure has led to Lampard being sacked. It’s a shame as Lampard did well with the youngsters last season and Chelsea have some really good young players. They will definitely be better next season and Tuchel inherits a potentially brilliant squad. It's partly his failure as well as theirs though?

Finishing sixth and losing in the play off final you forgot to mention after beating now premiership Leeds in the semi’s. As for calling players out in public I have no problem with that now and again when it’s deserved Yeah, you didn't answer my question Mutts. Why does finishing sixth in the Championship and losing in the play off final qualify you to take the manager's job at one of the biggest and richest clubs in the league? The thing about calling players out in public is you can't take the credit when they win and then blame the players when you lose. That, rightly, is going to breed resentment. A manager in his position really can't come out after every bad result and point the finger elsewhere constantly. You can say the same thing for practically every job going in football. Perhaps they should have gone for Chris Wilder.

It's a pretty crap Monday, one way or another, but you can always rely on the Vale for a reassuring attempt at a bit of humour.

The reaction to him getting the job was overwhelmingly in favour from what I remember so I’m not so sure on that one.Yes he may consider himself slightly fortunate after his only experience at Derby but at the time I thought he’d do a good job and I still believe he would have done. Anyhow it’s not really something I want to spend time talking about when there’s nothing I can do except give my original opinion

Some are e.g Afobe,Woods ,Rowett/Phillips decisions Some are down to NOT following the process, e.g. process brought up multiple reasons not to sign Berahino but Hughes got his way Hughes signings were very good until he had some money to spend. Not really sure there are many obvious signings we made that weren't down to the manager Bauer maybe/maybe not. Etebo for sure. Whereas at Chelsea it's abundantly clear the manager has multiple signings foistered upon him.

He wouldn't have got within a 100 miles of if it wasn't for his status at the club based on his achievements as a player. I'm not sure he'd have done a good job or not, seems like his man management and tactical work have a long way to go...

I wonder who will be the next lucky club to benefit from the "Frank Lampard" branding experience. 'Frank Lampards Vale' ?

He should never have gone there in first place but I understand the lure
Not many ex players make a great success at management at the clubs where they were most successful
I’m sure Denis said that’s why he didn’t take the stokejob

As many have said he shouldn't of got the job on the back of a year with Derby. Rooney will stay at Derby couple years or longer to get experience. The Club legend couldn't turn the club down. He was massively under pressure having spent what he has and a mini crisis he's paid the price.
Not Many managers are safe now. We don't feel to sorry for them because of the pay offs they get. The top leagues you get hardly any time.
I would say Klopp Guardiola are safe because what they have achieved. Rodgers because what he's doing. Dyche Wilder safe because they have sensible owners who actually think who can do a better job on budget and players we have. The theme of top flight Hasenhuttl should of gone after the 0-9 if you followed how it usually goes but they stuck with him and I think he's safe.
Everyone else I don't think for one minute is safe they are all a mini crisis away from Sack imo and when they take on the job they know this. Surprised Bruce hasn't got yet. I bet it's soon. Like Arteta I was sure he would get pushed but he didn't still could at some point tho. Ole not safe at all at United. Potter Parker Smith Mourinho Moyes Nuno no other managers are safe at all. Some take prem jobs knowing they will prob get a year or less.

Job came too soon for him. Understand that it’s very difficult (perhaps impossible?) to turn down when they come calling but he hadn’t shown anywhere near enough at Derby to suggest he was ready for Chelsea IMO.
Would be interesting if Klopp left Liverpool tomorrow, for example, whether they would see Gerrard’s success at Rangers as enough reason to go for him or would hold off until he’d proved it further. And whether Gerrard would see himself as ready or be big enough to say not yet.

Jones didn’t have Vokes foisted on him, he could’ve vetoed it and didn’t. Same with Batth. What percentage of the players we’ve signed over the last seven years or so would you say were foisted on the manager against his wishes?

It’s a bizarre strategy to massively back a club legend as manager in the transfer market to sign promising youngsters and then sack him so soon. Chelsea are still in the Champions League and FA cup and a few weeks ago they were top 4.

He’ll have to prove himself somewhere else, that’s all. I agree it was a bizarre appointment in the first place. It sounds like they’ve taken the action they have because he was losing the dressing room.

Got the job purely because he’s an ex player. There’s no way on God’s green earth they would appoint any other manager who had just 1 decent seasons experience in the Championship behind them. Absolutely. It was only ever going to go one way.

After observing how these kind of things are handled in Russia, I'm guessing Frank will be glad to get out of this alive 😱 Even more so when you look at how many people were murdered during the 'aluminium wars' so Abramovich could make his billions.

Not quite as cringe worthy as the Giggs at United saga but not a million miles off. Lampard still needs to properly prove himself in the lower leagues for me - be it the Championship or elsewhere.
