Joe has done a sterling job,but I feel he needs taking out of the equation for a while. He's certainly not our biggest problem but I think for his sake he needs a rest.

It was a brave call to pick him after midweek and it backfired. Has to be dropped next match.

Bursik doesn’t save much does he? His shots to goal percentage must be pretty close to rivalling Butland’s.
He’s a very tidy keeper but shot stopping isn’t one of his strong areas.

Angus Gunn is the best goalkeeper at the club. He needs to come back in for the next game

Agreed, he is very good with his feet and commanding the box, but a shot on target is where he struggles

The second goal was just a good goal, not sure anyone would have saved it to be honest. As for the penalty, it was only the eagerness to make the second save that was his undoing. If he hadn't gone for the second save it looked like it would have been a goal anyway ?

There is an incredible amount of bias on this forum and people turning blind eyes when it comes to Joe Bursiks performances.
Nobody is saying he's a bad keeper or that he hasn't exceeded expectations so far. He's got some great qualities and is very brave and quick off his line and has good distribution. However nobody can deny that at this stage of his career, he is not as good an all-round player as either Gunn or Davies.
Bursik is ranked 41/45 for saves per game in the championship with 1.4.

He was unlucky with the penalty but I think Davies would have saved the second. Joe seems fine with high shots but at this point too suspect with hard low efforts across him.

Changing the keeper will change fuck all. Of course it will. We don't need our back 4 losing confidence in our goalkeeper like they did with Butland.

I agree, a more experienced goalie with a bigger frame turns that round the post.Although it was a perfectly weighted pass around the back of Chester.

Put Gunn in by all means. It will change little to fuck all to our results. It is nowhere near the real issue.

Bursik has had a poor game again tonight. Conceded a pen although after a great save and should have saved the second goal. Great young goalkeeper but does need a break now.

Technically hes great. His position, his command of the area, his kicking but as a shot stopper hes like the son of Ronnie Sinclair.

Ultimately tonight has nothing to do with Joe, we’ve seen worse / more detrimental from more established and experienced keepers.
The fact that Davies didn’t make the bench ahead of Gunn suggests to me that it’s been arranged for him to go out on loan til the summer.
Gunn could quite likely only be here with a promise in the deal that he is involved in the match day squad - otherwise he might as well have stayed at Southampton. He knew he was coming into a situ where our fully contracted keepers would recover full fit and it would have been a silly move to come without some sort of assurances.
Anyways - total speculation aside. Gunn would offer Joe a lot more experience and advice than Davies would being alongside him in the squad.
Davies doesn’t deserve to go out on loan at all but under the strange circumstances it would make the most sense.
