How many times? HE ALREADY COACHES IN THE ACADEMY Great. Then if he is still deemed okay, he’ll get a job on a basic wage.

Great. Then if he is still deemed okay, he’ll get a job on a basic wage. No shit Why are so people angsty about this? Normally I wouldn’t. I thought I would just offer a counter to the many people clamouring that he gets a position based upon nothing more than loyal service. I personally have no idea how good of a coach he is, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he was just given a job for this reason either, which would seem like a waste of a wage in a money strapped club.

How to keep some bloody good Prem stikers in their pocket most weeks like he did I would imagine. Like who Bloody'll heard it all now, he was carried by Huth and really wasn't the Maldini you're all talking about. In fact Pulis coached football out of a lot of players, not saying Ryan had it but Pulis was a poor tactician, stuck in the seventies I'd say.

Costa that has been transferred amongst the top clubs in Europe. Costa that manhandled Shawcross like he was a doll. Shawcross that let Little pea score a back header. Shawcross that no other club ever tried to buy. Shawcross that was one of the reasons why we were relugated.

No. But trying to say he was the best center half in the premiership is rubbish. He was lucky to have the career he did in the premiership and he did so because he was a Pulis and the owners favorite. He has done nothing for the club in the last five years but takes 50 grand a week

Fucking hell, have we got the point now where its questioned that Shawcross was an integral part of our decade in the top flight? No. But trying to say he was the best center half in the premiership is rubbish. He was lucky to have the career he did in the premiership and he did so because he was a Pulis and the owners favorite. He has done nothing for the club in the last five years but takes 50 grand a week He was our best player under Hughes season after season?! I think Hughes would have loved to have disposed of Pulis' captain, had he not realised that he had a one man defence. In fact, Ryan was the key to our success under Hughes. It's a common misconception that the Liverpool League Cup game was the beginning of the end. The actual killer was a few days earlier when we played Leicester away on the 23rd of January. This was the game where Ryan Shawcross suffered significant damage to his back from which he never fully recovered. If you think I'm overselling it, we hadn't conceded a single goal while he had been on the pitch prior to December 19th that season. He was the most in-form defender in the country and the difference between the two halves of the season was like night and day. Before we took to the field against Leicester we were four points off Europe and six points off fourth. This was the year Leicester won the league; a top six finish was an ambitious but not unreasonable target. After Ryan went off injured, we immediately conceded and lost 3-0. In our next league match, we lost 3-0 to Man Utd. The game after that we lost 3-0 at home to Everton. After a few wins to see us to safety, the trademark four goal mullerings that defined the latter part of the Hughes reign began. 4-1 away at Liverpool. 4-0 at home to Tottenham. 4-0 away at Man City. All in the space of 13 days. We got to 9th place with a late win against West Ham on the final day, but that only masked the fact that we should have done much better. Extrapolated points total from games Ryan played in before injury: 66 (+15 points, joint 4th place) Extrapolated points total from all games before Ryan's injury: 57 (+6 points, 9th place) Extrapolated points total after Ryan's injury: 43 (-8 points, joint 14th place)
