This guy has form. You would think that now he is a Premier League player, and having broken into the National side, that he would have developed a bit of cop-on. But it appears not. At 25, he doesn't even have the excuse of "boyish exuberance" any more.
Fuckers like these (and there's loads of them!), who think they own the place, and can do what they like, should be made an example of. A month in jail, I say. That would "soften his cough". He'd think twice before acting the dick again. It would also act as a deterrent to any other tosser thinking about doing something equally irresponsible.

Personally have thought for a long time that for fines related to driving offenses we should be following the Scandinavian model where fines are based on a percentage of your earnings.
I know penalty points can act as a bit more of a deterrent but it's clearly not enough.
Instead of a set fine for all, it should be 10% of your monthly income or something similar. Especially more so for offenses which only result in fines such as parking on double yellows, driving in a bus lane etc...
Maybe that would help to act as a bit more of a deterrent to these people who think having an abundance of money puts them above the law.

Unless something has changed in recent years, it's a set fine irregardless of earnings. I got a £60 speeding fine around 10 years ago which wasn't based of my annual income. So basically someone who is homeless and claiming benefits will be fined the same amount for a driving offense as a billionaire would.

Never arsed when they're caught smoking weed or getting with people as it's reasonably harmless...
Drunk driving is never right though.
Personally I massively rate him as a footballer and he should walk into our England side. Like a slower Hazard.

Why should a billionaire pay a massive speeding fine? the rules are the rules, the 12 point limit on the licence makes it fair, unlike some European countries where you can have as many speeding fines as you like if you can afford the fines.
If people are abusing the system and constantly parking on double yellow lines, driving in bus lanes etc and paying the fines then change the system and put points on their licence for it, they'll soon stop.

The reason it should be based of income is so that it acts as a deterrent. That's why the fines were introduced in the first place. When someone earns an obscene amount of money a £60 fine no longer acts as a deterrent. All fines should be based of earnings in my opinion as that means it's applied equally and fairly. Without that you end up with bellends like Steve Jobs who used to regularly park in disabled spots and drive without plates. Because he earned so much that the fines didn't deter him and he thought he was above the law. This article sums it up a bit - www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2015/03/finland-home-of-the-103000-speeding-ticket/387484/

Speeding fines are set yes but Grealish has just been fined £80k for this so I'm fairly sure that's based on earnings! If not God help the rest of us if we got done! My step brother got done for driving without due care and attention a few years back. They asked his weekly earnings and the dosy prat thought they asked for monthly! The fine was a lot more than it should have been!

LINKIt seems we are still a bit behind in the times with fixed penalties in Northern Ireland in contrast to England. Good to see that they are income based over there now too. Thanks for the info.

Shock horror a 25 yr old with buckets full of money and not much to do gets in a bit of bother, fuck me lets slaughter the cunt and hound him about it for the rest of his life eh. Gouranga. Look at the cctv! Yeah I've just watched it, what a complete cunt heh? He should be banned from driving forever, kicked out of football and made to do at least 10 years! I mean he smashed into a parked transit at such a speed it almost went into the house in front of it and could have killed the occupants not to mention that the van could have been full of little children or old people that could have suffered horrific injuries or even death, then to top all that he has the gall to return and side swipe another parked car - again not knowing if it was full of old people or children - cuntishness of the highest order! Then he's caught going fast on a motorway and tailgating another driver who was abiding by the law and travelling in the outside (overtaking) lane AT 69mph before overtaking, then as if that's not enough twattery he has to travel fast on an empty country lane which could have put any animals that were in the fields minding their own business and grazing away in possible danger. He should never be let to live this down, he should live the rest of his life guilt ridden and shamed for endangering so may people and animals. I'm so glad he doesn't play for Stoke! I'd much sooner have Josh Tymon or Jordan Cousins who would never flout the law so blatantly. Gouranga.

If not then just a very weird over reactive post with ridiculous comments. Very bizarre to make a joke out of a crime that kills nearly 2 people per day and injured 10 more. Saying that I notice you sign every post off with an emoji and a meaningless word. I doubt you would make such ridiculous jibes if one of your family was killed by a drunk driver.

Grealish has talent, but he's undoubtedly a bad apple.
And unfortunately for him, the current England manager comes from a generation that saw England crashing out of tournament finals not because of a lack of talent, but because of spoiled petulant brats needlessly getting themselves sent off, i.e. Rooney and Beckham.
The Beckham incident against Argentina in particular would have left a lasting impression on Southgate, as he was one of the losing players that day.
So you might not agree with his reasoning, but I'm convinced that's why he makes safe choices: like Mason Mount over Grealish.
If you're a decent footballer, but also middle class, mild-mannered and studious, you probably fit the Southgate bill a lot more than a star player who's also a potential loose cannon: like Grealish.
If Grealish can't wise up to that, and pretty damn sharpish, his England career is only going to end in tears.
