Thought I’d start my own thread because it just seems far too negative on all the other threads. Yes today wasn’t really pretty but it’s needs must at the moment. Who knows, today’s point could be crucial at the business end of the season. Add Davies, a fitter Shawcross, Allen, Mikel, Clucas, McClean, Gregory,Campbell and fitter Fletcher and Verlinden. Plus maybe 1 or 2 new additions to the squad right now, then as I’ve said on previous threads the second half of the season could and for what it’s worth in my opinion will be something special. Stay in the top 10 until Jan and we’ll be up there.

We’ll be up there unless one of them gets injured? Then the manager and the squad gets a free pass for a dire performance just because?

Totally agree. There really are some fickle fuckers who support this club.

Not the greatest performance today but in the circumstances with so many frontline players out, a good few younger players on the pitch and maybe one or two players not really 100% fit, a point is a point especially away from home. If we can stay there or thereabouts over the Christmas period then I honestly believe that players coming back from injury and the odd addition in January, MON will take us places. We are Stoke! Keep the faith. UTP!

Those that played today are getting a bloody good wage. Is it too much to ask to have a decent attempt on goal against a team that has one of the worst defences in the league and the worst home record.
If that makes me a shit fan oh well....

Some seem to have a sense of entitlement that is misplaced. Look at the money spent on players who are either on loan, playing in the Under 23s or had their contracts torn up for being a tosser and then tell me how we get out of the situation we find ourselves in? I’m amazed we’re doing as well as we are with our options at the moment. We don’t have any spending power to make January any better than one out and one in. It’s a slow process and yes, we’re not that great at the moment and yes, the top three are pulling away but I’m happy to keep that Top 6 in sight, get a full squad available, and even if Ty is out long term, we might have an opportunity in January to adjust and adapt. There’s far too much bile being spat out at the moment. Perspective is everything.

Just because they deserve it, with every setback they still keep that points for total ticking over, yes it was a grind but that’s what was needed. Your witnessing kids growing into men, I won’t heap the pressure on them with talk of promotion because I believe this season is all about learning and gaining experience.

He said add those players - not neccessarily all of them, which when you consider the list is largely the better half of our squad isn't too hard to imagine. No one mentioned anything about a free pass & if you ask me 0-0 against a team we lost 4-0 to last time isn't a dire performance either. Am I missing something or is it a new trend to completely misrepresent what everyone is saying on The Oatcake recently?

I think we are entitled to see them start with some kind of intent before the manager has to give them a good rodding at half time to wake them up!. That's my perspective. H

Not since Rooney took over they haven't. They stopped Brentford from scoring at home on Wednesday and apart from Fletcher and Brown none of those players are paid their wage for scoring goals and Fletcher clearly wasn't ready to play today and Brown is all heart but has a lot to learn.

Fulagoals, it just not today its been crap boring football for a number of games even when we had the so called better players on the pitch, Stoke are a mid table championship team i don't see anything that will change that, most of you who keep on saying it will improve are the ones who said before the season started was wait until the manager has his own player's and you will see stoke as a promotion team, they are miles from it

Last season I would have bitten your hand off for a nil nil but look at the league, Derby have been dominated by teams with much less talent than ours (even with our walking wounded) We’re not talking about toddlers here, they’re professional footballers, I love MON, I think we’ve got a decent squad which is why today’s performance, especially the first half was unacceptable, they can and should do better

No I haven’t. I want us to be the side we can because we deserve to be top 2. We are far better than the manager is setting us up to be at the minute. That’s not negativity. Indeed I’m way more positive about this side than most. We have a fantastic of young footballers, some experienced good heads and a good manager. He’s just not showing it at the minute. That’s what is annoying. The negativity is from the manager and people happy with mediocrity.

Do you not think he’s even slightly hamstrung by injuries and the limited quality of many of the players he’s relying on. Players who he either didn’t sign (for the most part) or who he’s having to blood in a very difficult situation. I’m stunned that someone as seemingly intelligent as you can’t cut him a certain amount of slack given the circumstances.

It has been all season but he’s way better than it and I expect it to change.

And he’s the main reason we’re in a very strong position this year. He’s not perfect and can be over cautious. But he’s still fucking brilliant and has enough credit in the bank to be forgiven a shitty 0-0 at Derby. A Derby who are actually now unbeaten in 4 and gave Brentford a test last week. They’re no mugs.

The problem is that the top teams are pulling away. A few games ago we were one win off first. Now we're 3 wins away. We're still only one win from 6th, but considering goal difference, we're 5 points off 5th.
I fear that a playoff spot is quick slipping away.
