Random looking for other non related photos on the Flickr website, and fair kudos indeed to Jim Wall who posted a load of pics from Stoke V Wolves 1984. As he says in the info found lurking in a box of negatives. I dont wish to steal his thunder or suchlike but they are absolute belters in quality from the game that we won 4-0 ...and yes a little bit of old Stokie aggro on one! What a day that was. “One Clive Thomas there’s only one Clive Thomas....” 😂😂

Those fences what a farce it was back then... Wolves in the boothen always took a hiding.. I Swear old bill use to take away fans through the paddock on purpose to teach them a lesson

Although it probably goes down in history as one of the worst, I actually loved that season’s strip for some reason. I think it was because I had the full kit bought me for Christmas as a 14 year old avid Stoke fan. The euphoria that day compared to what happened 12 months later was unbelievable. And to think just 2 or 3 years earlier we had genuine aspirations of getting in Europe until it all fell apart!

I was there and remember the back of the Boothen end being absolutely rammed. Never did find out the attendance.

I had a good look for myself in the Boothen Paddock, I don’t know why Dad liked it there as it was always a bit tasty. We left the paddock forever after a massive ruck against West Ham circa September’84. Bill Asprey should be remembered for this half season and not for the next which was massively out of his hands.

Funny how there's basically no club gear on the people in the crowd. There must be 150+ people in those two close-up photos and there's maybe 2 red scarves and nothing else.

I was there and remember the back of the Boothen end being absolutely rammed. Never did find out the attendance. As was the thing at the time the attendance always left you scratching your head when announced over the antiquated tannoy at The Vic, because you knew is was rammed & felt like it yet "officially" it was around half your guess (or at least it seemed that way to a 13 yr old from Longton ) Before a few more photos with emphasis on taches & perms Didnt Wolves drop 4 leagues in 4 seasons post this game?

Isn’t that John Burridge in goal for Wolves? Pretty sure he used to be in goal for the away team most weeks at the vic😂.

I remember that the Boothen Paddock where I stood was full of Striking miners (not local either), and they did cause some trouble. I wonder if that picture behind the fence was that moment? Incidentally Paul Doherty who played for wolves that day was the football league’s smallest player at 5ft 1in tall, another top fact tomorrow 😁
