Vokes is that bad I wouldn't even wish him on the Vale. You could be on to something there. We’d still have to pay 95% of his wages though! BM

Disgraceful performance from him tonight. He should never play for us again.
Surely we have a Striker in the U23’s that we can throw in? “Go and make a name for yourself, youth”.
Anyone with 2 legs and a pulse is better than the oxygen thief, Vokes.

And to think I've slagged Gregory off. He's terrible in front of goal but he always puts him self about and he can take penalties.

I don't believe that Vokes was ever a player that Jones even asked for. Remember hearing that he and Batth had had both been on the Stoke radar before he was ever appointed. It never made sense that he would sanction a 7-9 million pound bid for Vokes in January and then replace him with Gregory in the summer. Another player in my opinion signed by the process!

Its having the likes of Bauer, Wimmer and Vokes on bonkers wages and stuck here tht means our squad relies so much on youngsters

There must have been a reason why they let him take that, but I am having a hard time coming up with one. I feel a bit sorry for him because it was his chance to redeem himself - now his confidence must be totally shattered just when we need him. I feel a bit the same, we're all human beings, but I'm struggling to think about match winning performances when his confidence has been high. You want people to do well, but how many chances do you have to hand out?

Never ever should that fraudster wear our colours again, IF he'd have put that in it was game over, fcuk him off to hold hands with Wimmer.

He’s worked wonders when you consider he’s spent the square root of bugger all compared to lavish spending of others. Think what he could have possibly done with the wages and cash freed up by us not having spunked 9M on Vokes, 12M on Ince, 17M on Wimmer, 5M on Bauer.

Before he kicked it I said its going to be a miss.
It seems a case of been there done that and currently on a fat pay check, win draw or loose lets all have a toot and a booze.
There was no desire to score the goal, play mind games with keeper or out psyche him, the run up was a disgrace to the are of taking a penalty.
Both Vokes and Ince have been a major problem for us, no hunger or desire to prove anything.
Signing players who are 26 to 29 who are premier cast offs on big wages is a recipe for disaster.

Possibly the shittest penalty ever. I've never seen anything quite as amateurish.

He should be arrested for stealing a living. Did he actually touch the ball other than that awful penalty? No he didn't. Disgraceful performance.

Having had time to reflect the Shawcross for Brown sub, bizarre that it was ,was a damning indictment on Vokes and how MON probably had finally given up on him to do anything remotely useful. He have him another chance and ,as it worked out ,he probably cost us 3 points as ,although we defended appallingly for the goals, that Miss have them a massive lift and sent us into our shell.2-0 and we walk that game.
It wasnt just the penalty miss but his general performance/contribution which was atrocious
I dont expect to see him playing for Stoke ever again.

Shawcross up top is genuinely a better option from now on until Fletcher or Gregory are fit.
Powell in the first choice then Ryan. No one else.

As soon as I saw him come on last night I knew we were fucked, he sucks any life from the game what so ever. He doesn't score, he doesn't press very well, he's slow, he cant turn, he can't pass, he doesn't hold the ball up, he loses the majority of balls in the air, and when he does get a head on them, they end up coming straight back out of the box into no mans land. Even when he stepped up to take the penalty, the one possible opportunity he has to redeem himself, he side foots it virtually at the keeper. I usually like to give players the benefit of the doubt and assume it's a confidence issue, but for the near two years he's been here, he's been utter wank. I couldn't even tell you what he actually does on a football pitch. Absolutely rotten footballer.

On the plus side he saved Denise a few quid with his toss penalty, Bet365 would have paid out on a Stoke win, including me, at 2-0

Its his aerial presence (or lack of it) that kills me. You play a big lump up top to win headers - he can't. He misjudges every one, rarely jumps and is 2nd best to every clogger centre half in this division. Add to that he cant score (even from the spot), beat a man or even run, I fail to see what our or any other manager can possibly see in him?

I have a question
We have had players that have always divided opinion. Example currently are McLean some love him some hate him. Gregory same even ince to some degree although that ship is quickly sailing.
Is there ANYONE out there who still thinks the Argos flat pack wardrobe that is Sam Vokes has ANYTHING to offer. I actually think last night we would have been better taking Campbell off and going down to 10men

Most strikers will have at least one basic quality or attribute that they would class as a strong point of their game. Whether that is a target man using strength or heading, a poacher with good finishing, a quick or tricky one.
I literally cannot think of one attribute or area of his game that Vokes excels in.
Last night the commentators even picked up that he’d done nothing whilst on the pitch. Amazingly, that’s a standard performance from him yet he somehow still managed to get picked.
The fact that despite a seeming lack of any footballing ability he can’t even run to put pressure on defenders is comical. You could literally put my fucking toddler up front to chase after the ball all day without any idea of what to do if he got it and he’d be more effective than Sam fucking Vokes.

18 months left on his deal Who loans him next season on 20-25k-a-week? He can't move, so hard to even see him being of use in the lower leagues. We can't play him on Saturday, surely?

Adams' howler was the plodding follow up. Vokes could have helped his battered injured team mates seal three points last night, and he hit it with all the power of a caring uncle not wanting to hurt his nephew standing between two jumpers in the back garden.

He is not good enough for any team who could afford that. I'm not sure whether he ever used to have any pace but he certainly doesn't now, and it's not as if he's a strong target man either or particularly good in the air, I guess we are stuck with him whilst he picks up his last big payday. It's not his fault, he does try but he's just not up to the task, yet another shocking signing on the list of shocking signings from our club. It's not as if he is that old as footballers go, but he doesn't have the brains or skill of Fletcher (who I admit I was a bit dubious about given his age, but what a revelation he is in comparison).
If we're signing players later in their careers we should be looking at 1 year to 18 month deals only, we can't afford any more passengers. We'd be far better off spending money on younger players than cast-offs, and developing the academy players who have shown promise recently.
