Thought he had one of his better games today. He won the vast majority of headers and caused their defenders some problems. His link up play was much better than usual as well.
With better crosses into the box he might of bagged a goal but he's never going to make one out of nothing.

He missed an absolute sitter too.

Said it many times doesn’t score many or create any, he can’t run, pass shoot, it seems his bread and butter of being good in the air is nonsense after another free header from 5 yards didn’t go near the goal. a massive waste of money on a player who offers absolutely nothing.

In his interview MON seemed quite impressed by his performance. Ridiculous. It was Bamber-esque. From memory bamber was absolutely brilliant at being in the right place at the right time, but largely failed to do the same with the ball

Better service into the box and he would have scored.

He's woefully, woefully out of form and the only reason he's playing is because of injuries.
He's been a good player in the past (not for us admittedly) surely there's a small chance of him recapturing some form?

Fingers crossed, but it would be up there with Jesus coming back to life in the resurrection stakes! P.S. we know he’s really bad but no need for fat **** references and alike.

Kept some dangerous possessions rolling with his headers (never the easiest). Helped to spring Campbell (x2), Brown (x2) & helped make the winner with a nice run to suck in the FB. Decent shift.

Post a pic of you then Bayern ? Would love to see you what you look like in real life. Your the definition of a football manager internet sad act nerd , literally spends half his life on a message board , counting posts. Doesn't drink , no friends, stays in flicking between Twitter, the oatcake and pornhub. Sad act.

He's been a good player in the past (not for us admittedly) surely there's a small chance of him recapturing some form? Bar the very rare season he's struggled to be a regular starter at any club he's ever been at. 430 league appearances a staggering 199 as a sub (46%), most during his prime. He's never been remotely close to being a top striker let alone a £9M one and it's fairly painful to watch.

He’ll improve with games , This is actually a good point. The same can be said for Brown and Cousins. You can't expect a player to step in every 6 games or so and make an instant impact, a run in a team will see the best of them come out. It does however fly in the face of picking your best eleven when fit. Not such an easy job being a manager (or coach in 2020 speak)

He's useless. I think bringing back 39 year old Crouchie would be an improvement.

In his last 2 championship season (before us) he scored 21 and 16, then 12 in the Premier league. Like Ince, it's there but doubt we'll ever see it.

If you want to contextualise the goal scoring threat of a player you have to compare it against the creativity of his team.
It's easier to post big attacking numbers in a side that prioritises attacking actions.
Vokes' non penalty xG per 90 was 32% of Burnley's as a team in the PL.
It was 27% of Burnley's as a team in the CH.
With Stoke in the CH it has been 32% the rate of ours as a team.
For comparison with Crouchie, PC's was 29% of our team rate in the PL and dropped to 26% in his CH cameos when he was well past his prime.
So Vokes has been very productive at PL level, is still productive at CH level, but he's inevitably going to follow Crouchie's age related decline.

I quite like Vokes - seems a decent pro and we know he *can* score but has a touch of the Bambers about him at the moment, unfortunatley.......hopefully he'll get a break and restore some confidence......

For a professional athlete he's big, slow and doesn't seem to have the ability to jump. To compare him to your average fan is just stupid.

3 goals in 27 league appearances in 2020. I think people are entitled to expect slightly more from a £9M striker.

To say that a Professional football who has been capped by his country over 50 times and has played the vast majority of his career in the top two leagues of English football is also a bit stupid...
