Surely the evidence of the last two games is proof that this squad is no where near good enough for top six.

But we are currently challenging the top 6 and I suspect will be in and around those top 6 places all season long. If you are top half of championship you'll always ever be a little run of wins away from those play off places.

I get the feeling we might be a way off by then.

Interesting fact and a statistic that would seem to contradict the doubters . . . . .
Most League points in English football in 2020 64 Brentford 64 Liverpool 56 Stoke City 55 Swansea City

Stay in touch and then we need to put another run or two together together at some point. Considering the players we have out to come back, nothings impossible.

We are doing all right.
Since MO'N arrived and this calendar year we are a top 6 side and one of the highest scoring.
This season we are 8th best so far but have had a much tougher opening fixture list than the other top half clubs. They have played many of the bottom clubs. We played our first game against today against a bottom club and it had to be trying to score against a Pulis team, which we all knew would be difficult.
The key issue now is to beat the bottom teams when we play them, which is what the teams above us have done so far this season and why they are where they are. It will not be easy because they will be trying not to lose to get a point.
If we were promoted we would need to buy a lot of top class players to survive. Another new test for MO'N but he has passed every test so far in his managerial career.

We are doing OK considering we have half a team of first 11 likely starters injured:
Davies Shawcross Souttar Allen Fletcher

Do people actually think we’re good enough to go up this season?
Deluded isn’t the word.

Do people actually think we’re good enough to go up this season? Deluded isn’t the word. Two of the three relegated sides will almost certainly take the top two places. After that we’re in a group of about a dozen sides that will all have an eye on the play-off places. My pre-season prediction was for us to finish eighth and I haven’t seen anything from us yet to make me change my mind. However there’s no reason that with a bit of luck we can’t find ourselves in the top 6 come the end of the season.

This Season is going to be a tough one to get into the Top 6. Norwich, Watford and Bournemouth could be the first 3 relegated Prem teams to be promoted (ever ?). They will be the front runners. We are not currently consistent enough to consider the play offs. There are teams who always improve gradually throughout the season but I don’t think we have the firepower or defensive robustness to be contenders. As said by others I think we are a Top 10 side but just not quite good enough for a Promotion Challenge. Give MON another couple of Transfer windows with the right backing then we may be there. Anyway, imagine a promotion season without being in the ground to witness it. I’ll wait till next year thanks.

Lawrence, Griffin, Sidibe all played a big part (that's 8) EDIT : Diao also started 18 times.
