£20M for Afobe and Vokes, neither of them suited to be the lone striker! Not suitable to be even called a striker!

I think it says a lot about where he's at now that the only serious interest was from Wycombe and Shrewsbury. It's a shame he couldn't turn out to be the foil for Campbell that he was for Ings earlier in his career but I doubt very much he will be missed.

We will always have Sheffield Wednesday on Boxing Day Sam!
Most exciting moment since January 2016
Think the writing was on the wall from that first penalty miss....and ended up with another that saw our decline last season.
Good luck

Not even convinced he'll score loads for Wycombe, there's a touch of the Lightbournes about him. He’s not that good

Good shout on entitled to be fair, have you read this forum? As for why we're not liked I assume because we have both just been in the same league. I always hate basically everyone in our league. Hated West Ham when we were in the Prem and now finding myself quite fond of their team right now, it's just cause they're not our problem.

All I see is genuine despair at where we've fallen from and how quickly, with many fans predcting mid table at best.

Seems a decent forum to me and sensible comments. they make some good points. Vokes seems an ok bloke and he's gone. Hope he does ok and suits us and him....and Wycombe. You win some . I thought he was a good signing at the time as did many. Let's move on

Will be a very close call, but don't worry there is always Thompson and Smith as 3rd and 4th reserves. Tymon must be in with a shout too. Poor wretches won't know whether to shit or spew with all the choice on offer. Must look back misty eyed to the days they could all unite behind their mutual vilification of Wollscheid. Chester seems to be forgotten currently. Still time tho.

What price him being top scorer this coming season? He’ll do well there because Ainsworth will play the game that suits him(like at Burnley),long throws, crosses and probably in a two Gone for the Lincoln striker @33/1 but wouldn’t be surprised to see Vokes getting double figures

Mordor fc and yet their manager looks like a washed up rock star who's pissed his leather pants, why do small clubs like Wycombe always use the they think the world owes them something because we've been in the prem (which is something I doubt I'll see them do in my lifetime) when in reality we don't think we are any better than anyone else, well some on here do but in the main we are a level headed bunch.

The last utter flop for us that played for them was Keith Scott. Don’t remember him setting the world on fire when he was there.
It’s quite sad that Wycombe fans are getting excited about signing him but it’s fantastic for us that we’ve got a complete dead weight off the books and a massively expensive dead weight at that!
Out of all the players that we’ve moved on this summer this is by far the best deal. Etebo and Badou were probably equally expensive but at least they could play and we had no trouble loaning them out but Vokes was utterly shit and apart from his goal against Sheffield Wednesday his spell here has been a disaster.
Be good to check back on that Wycombe forum at Christmas.

I don’t blame them for getting excited. I routinely said the season before last that in my opinion, he was playing well alongside Gregory, for example. There’s a lot more time in league one. He’ll probably do okay. I imagine that we’ll be paying most of his wages anyways, so it probably won’t be too big of a deal for them if he doesn’t.

How much did we pay for him ? Was it some deal with Crouch ? £7m + add ons (based on success so no adds will have been paid) + Crouch Should just have kept Crouch

He’s their player surely that wouldn’t be allowed. I suspect what we have done is paid a large chunk of his remaining salary up front as a ‘Golden Goodbye’ type thing.

There’s absolutely no way we would continue payrolling a player we don’t own. Severance pay to make the drop in wages more palatable yes, but we won’t be paying him a monthly wage now he’s gone.

Check back at Christmas to see that he has bagged a hat full. He will suit the style of play Wycombe have. To say he underperformed for us is a massive understatement, however we didn't exactly use him to his strengths.
