What a pisser. Just goes to show how many misinformed idiots there are on that platform. Like most of us were with Nathan Jones? what’s that got to do with anything?

vokes will score goals at wycombe no doubt about that, the guy said he new straight away he wanted leave for them after the first phone call that does not say much for us when a player wants to leave stoke for wycombe, oh well maybe jacob brown will be the one to get slated now all the time,

His chin and cheeks look chubby. He was bone idle. Generally stayed in the centre circle doing shuttle saunts. Him not being able to get around the pitch! Him being overweight? I don’t care about the club announcement. He was an awful signing for us who had no redeeming features. The empathy is lacking because he was a lazy good for nothing. You watched a different player to me. I saw a player trying his best to play in a team which did nothing for him. He desperately tried to play a high press when all his career he has played with his back to goal. He is an old fashioned centre forward with a large heavy frame giving him strength to shield the ball. Unfortunately football went a different way during his career. What is the bloke supposed to do? I hope Gary Ainsworth will use him properly. (Off topic, but a very good manager). I suspect you have very little empathy for anyone. Look at the twitter feed from Stoke. There isn't an ounce of fat on his abdomen. As for his chubby cheeks, they're called dimples which some people get when they smile. My son has them and is the skinniest bloke I know. Physically though, he looks shot. He could've played a back to goal role for us (it's Powell who does a lot of the pressing high up) but he just wasn't up to it, he looked a shadow of the player he was at Burnley.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing and I now better understand that translating goals from one team to another is dependent on playing to that player’s strengths, and that not all players can adapt to different systems. I probably like many others did fist pumps when Vokes arrived, dribbling at his previous haul of goals for Burnley in two separate Championship campaigns. Hell, I remember someone on here comparing Lee Gregory to Danny Ings and thinking both Greggers and Vokes might replicate a similarly successful partnership to those Burnley days. So just out of interest, is there anyone on here who genuinely believed Vokes would be a disaster before he even kicked a ball for us?

I'm sure Wycombe fans will be more concerned about what he does there. Decent enough striker in his time but not for us. He's gone which many hoped for and not our problem now.

Not even convinced he'll score loads for Wycombe, there's a touch of the Lightbournes about him.

In different terms Mick. The “club signed” a player for a significant amount of money (EPL standards) and didn’t play a style of football that would give him the opportunity to payback the investment……..it’s the players fault I wonder who next seasons target of the warriors will be? That's already been decided.Jacob Brown! Oh come on. Surely the Joe Allen boo boys will have something to say about that!

A player shouldnt be shot at 31 years old if he looks after himself.

I feared he'd turn out to be exactly what he did. He's clearly popular with his teammates and a good egg off the pitch. On the pitch he was beyond useless.

You like me Dave had the info from Burnley at the time though. However I hoped that the drop in division might offset his decline somewhat. I was wrong, badly wrong.

He was playing, but didnt move from the centre circle for much of the game time.

I'm really not sure where people get this 'he'd score goals in the right team' idea from, I'm really not. In a career spanning 15 years he's had one good season and one okay season. It's a shocking outlay for a player of his calibre - we were robbed.
We paid £10m for a useless lump that saunters around the centre circle not really up to much. I was actually surprised at how bad he is in the air considering his reputation & his hold up play is abysmal. Painfully weak for a bloke of his stature.
Easily in my top 5 worst £4£ Stoke signings - I don't see a single redeeming feature.

Tymon must be in with a shout too. Poor wretches won't know whether to shit or spew with all the choice on offer. Must look back misty eyed to the days they could all unite behind their mutual vilification of Wollscheid.

Completely agree! I seldom post on here but I'm pretty sure I posted words to that effect when we signed him for £10m. Startling waste of money for a club that was obviously in danger of falling foul of FFP. I was pretty convinced he'd be useless, however I'll admit I was wrong... he wasn't even that good.
