Another game has come to me, 88 or 89 I think. We beat Hull 4-0 at home on a Sunday if I remember. Only mention it because it was the game Cliff Carr scored his solitary goal for us. Can't remember the goal but it must have been with his left peg. He must have gone mental for it! Anyone????

Trying to remember who scored this one, but for the life of me I can't. Would have been probably late 70's or early 80's. At home, attacking the Boothen End in the second half, our left-footed left winger (overlapping full back???) had been bombing forward down the line all game, swinging crosses in. He kept crossing earlier and earlier, to the point where he was crossing almost as soon as he'd gone over the half way line. And their keeper kept coming out further & further and catching them. To the point where he was catching the ball almost at the edge of the area and way beyond the far post.
Must have happened 15 times or more. Sat bang on the half way line, I shouted "why don't you shoot instead of crossing?" Lo and behold, next run he did his man and hit the same ball but this time with the outside of his foot. Keeper came way out to catch it as curled into him as usual. But it then curled the other way and whooshed into the net. Our chap turned and pointed at me. Pandemonium, I almost went over the rail, I was jumping about so much.
Durban??? said in his program notes the following home match that it was a fluke. But it was clear our chap had hit it with the outside of his boot and had fully intended it. Was it Loek Ursem maybe????
Can't even remember the opposition.
Sounds like the Geoff Scott goal? And fair play to you, you should be accredited with the assist😄 That's the one! It's come back now. Against Blackburn, and I think Garth got a hat-trick too. Maybe it was the blonde hair that made me think Loek Ursem.
Done a bit of searching and can't find a video of the goal but can find many doubters on here who say it was a fluke and a shanked cross. I can 100% confirm he'd been crossing all game with his instep & clearly that time hit it with the outside of his foot. Maybe he'd heard my shout, maybe not. I'll claim the assist, though, thanks :-)

I would love to see either of Terry Conroys v Liverpool (2-0) at the Vic - March 1975, was at the game with my Dad, I was 10 years old - no recollection of the goals - only that i was at the game in Boothen End.

Many years ago in the days of Alan Durbans red and white army the football special got us to Brighton {Goldstone ground} late and we were 1 up they scored later in the game to make it final score 1-1 .Also that game was on match of the day which I also missed so I never got to see that goal .I cannot remember the year it may not have been our promotion year. Also remember at that ground we used to stand in the corner of the ground and the base of the floodlight pylon was in the middle of that section

Bertie free-kick away at Leicester. I think we ended up losing 2-1.
We had some serious away followings in those days.

I missed Crouch's Man City Goal. I'm in block 26 so it would have been a good view as well. Someone walked up the stairwell and started waving to get someones attention. It distracted me next minute everyone was cheering

All the goals from my first ever game in ‘72 when we beat Man City 5-1. Definitely the Richardson goal in 79’ v Notts County and I also remember a great Adrian Heath goal away at Everton from 25-30 yards. I was stood in the away end behind the goal and it flew in. I’d say it was around 80-81.

Yes I recall 2 penalties, and also think one was an overhead type strike. Just seen message above which confirms the overhead strike. In the boothen end for this and remember the pens and be great to see. Last game of season, stay up , wolves down, 4-0. Unbelievable atmosphere that day. I remember being on a massive high for a while

I think it was at the Stoke end and I’m pretty sure it was against Hull Yep Hull and Stoke End 100% I was in the Paddock that night and would have sworn the goal was scored in the boothen.

I was thinking I was in the Butler Street Paddock but on reflection it was more likely the Boothen Paddock. So I am going to say you are right and I am wrong, it was the Boothen!

Tony Henry at Bradford away . Early 80s I believe. We won 4-1 and he either scored a worldie or a complete shin roll that flew in.

Does the Steve Bould legendary OG count?
I’ve only read about it, but didn’t he chip Foxy from about 35 yards?

Does the Steve Bould legendary OG count? I’ve only read about it, but didn’t he chip Foxy from about 35 yards? Cracker. Away at West Ham, I was in the chicken run with some WHU mates (I know, but I lived in London) and they just laughed. I just stood there with my mouth open. Postage Stamp from 25 yards. I also remember (I think) a wonderful Jimmy Greenhoff flicked header into the Boothen net that I have never seen anywhere, think it was against Man City 1970ish? If it didn't happen it should have . . . . .

Not a goal but I'd love to see Stiggers fantastic tackle on Aspin again up at the Fail. How he didn't break his leg amazes me to this day. It was a corker. OS.

I remember a cracking goal by Gerry Daly against Barnsley in 1988. He chipped a pass forward to Tony Henry (back to goal), Henry killed it on his left thigh then flicked it onto the on rushing Daly who scored with a volley from 15 yards.

It was at the Stoke End. Bren trotted on and turned left down to the Stoke End. The corner was taken from the Boothen Stand/Stoke End side. The goal is on the front of the programme for the next home game (Blackburn) and the new roof on the Butler Street stand is clearly visible on the far side for the actual header and the Boothen End is at the far end of the pitch in the picture where all the players are piling on Bren in celebration.
