Maybe a square behind it. Was the King's Hall there ? It's near the King's hall but on the main ring road around Stoke Town. You can still see the logo in this street maps thingy: google maps.Notice the word Harry's in the bottom of the window. Has been closed for around 10 years, after going down the shit-night-club-route. I could have told them that's a wank idea, but hey let them have a go. It saddens me so many Stoke buildings are just not used, yet so many homeless on our streets. It's such a shit state we live in. That's the place, yes Was a real angry barmaid in there who would let you use the phone for 20p until she realised folk were making international calls Thought never crossed my mind of course. What happened to Greenhoffs?

Has anyone reading this been to The Red Lion that was near the churchyard in Stoke that's apparently been rebuilt at a Tram museum in Derby?
Be interesting if someone has had a drink in both versions.

If you care about small brewers, then you could do a lot worse than reverse the decision to remove the small brewer allowance. Sign up here please: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/334066Sign now please!

Newcastle has lost some great bars over the years. Edwards and Brassingtons were great pre-club venues and always buzzing on a weekend.
The Town Hall building was converted into a trendy wine bar for some time in the mid-90s. Can't remember what it was called, but I remember it was where I had my first ever date.

What about the roughest pub you've been in??? Residing in the leafy hamlet called Knutton,I reckon we were blessed with a couple of 'lively' pubs,The Apedale and The Forge, sadly knocked down now, If I am not mistaken The Apedale had a fair bit of money spent on it,was renamed the 'Cask and Mallet' and had a bouncer on the door to keep the undesirables out....he lasted a couple of days.

Being a Meir lad I could weep! All gone, Kings Arms Waggon and Horses Station Hotel The Thorley Tiger Moth Waterhead Weston Inn/ Lautrecs Used them all over the years. I visited the Meir Sports and Social (think it was called that) a few times with my Dad, also the Thorley when Alec Ormston (again I think!) had it. A mate had the Saracens Head for a while, had some decent lock ins now and then in there. Alex McClaren used to run the Thorley, but of a character

When the Dew Drop shit down in was a blow. One of them pubs you just think will always be there. The Bell and Bear shut down yonks ago but last time I was there it was still a derelict old property.
On the flipside it was pleasing to see few new pubs on Piccadilly.

If you take the area from say Hanley bus station down to the railway bridges and from Leek road to Shelton new road there was: The Smithfield, Hawksmoor, Black Lion, White Swan, Sun, Victoria Hotel, Wheatsheaf, Bell and Bear, Norfolk,Sneyd, Corner Cupboard, Terrace, Fawn and Firkin and The Roebuck. Only ones left are Wheatsheaf and Terrace! Progress eh?! 😔

Bridge, Shamrock, Waterloo, Union, Gamekeeper, Three Tuns, to name but a few in Longton You might be the one to remember the name of pub that was on the corner of Edensor road and Spring Garden road, just around the corner from the Three Tuns? The one and only time I ever wandered in there was in the 80's and rather bizarrely, the only person sitting drinking in there was ex Stoke left back Alex Elder. It shut down shorty after and became a children's nursery.. I'll be buggered if I can recall the name of the place and Google hasn't been much help. It was like a wee cottage with quite a large beer garden in front of it (for the size of the pub). It's bugging the life out of me now

Dunno mate, Google tells me that The Kimberley was in Goms Mill Road which does head off from the corner where that pub is I'm talking about but I thought The Kimberley was further down Goms Mill road.. nearer to 'Kimberley' street in fact. If all else fails I'm going to have to go that way when I do one of my local street walks and ask one of the older residents if I see anyone about. The Edensor Hotel was also down Goms Mill rd on the left, now a single residence by the look of it.

From the North End of the city: Memory's not brilliant but Sandyford,/ Goldenhill High Street used to be good in my youth for a pub crawl/ pool , often ending up in Goldenhill Workingmen's club. www.thepotteries.org/loop_line/goldenhill_6.htmAnd then there was the Tunstall pubs The Ancient Brit( Greenbank road) The Barrel ( next to Sneyd Arms) The White Hart The Dolphin ( on the High Street) Maureen Flowers ran the Sneyd The Hope and Anchor, Pitshill Bank Hazlehurst Arms never made it for me some reason. I used to work behind the bar in the Elephant and Castle ( Fegg Hayes Estate) The Knave, Chell Heath was rough. The Inset has been mentioned. LATE 70s/ early 80s , when I was in the Police, on Friday/Saturday nights , used to wait for the " INSET" call. Invariably it came. Virtually all the bouncers had criminal records ( allegedly) and I can remember a couple of occasions when it was they who were arrested. Two arrests stick out in my mind. First Two young lads both arrested and charged for fighting outside. Interview of offender one " He was sitting by the bar ,staring at me" Did you know him?......" No" Had any dealings with him before.........." No , never met him before " What happened next ?...... " He kept staring and then he said " Outside" So I went outside and we had a fight. Offender 2 " He was sitting by the bar ,staring at me" Did you know him?......" No" Had any dealings with him before" No , never met him before " What happened next ? " He kept staring and so I said " Outside" He said "okay" So we went outside and we had a fight. Second one.....a really exasperated, innocent, nice young man , from outside the area.....arrested ( initially) , showing signs of assault, having been thrown out. Tell me what happened. " I've never been to the INSET before. I paid, went up the stairs and bought a drink. Within a minute this girl started to to talk to me. Then 30 seconds later this big guy came up to me and told me not to talk to her and hit me a couple of times. Then immediately the bouncers came up to me , hit me , knocked me down the stairs, and threw me out. And now you've arrested me. I was in there less than 5 minutes, didn't even have a sip of my drink, its cost me £ **. I'm never coming to Stoke again. "

Bridge, Shamrock, Waterloo, Union, Gamekeeper, Three Tuns, to name but a few in Longton The waterloo was the only pub in longton i walked in and out of without having a drink. It was so smoky my eyes were streaming so i had to leave. Went the shamrock instead. Some great boozers in longton and surrounding areas as a lad. Went most of em with my dad as a 16 year old. Places like the bottom vine, roebuck, ashwood, top vine, prince of wales, signalman, congress, sea lion, new penny, tam oshanter, royal oak. Only a few left now. Dont think i left longton till i was 25 to go drinking anywhere else, as it had so many good boozers. Im glad i got to go to those places though before my hometown fell into the doldrums.

Apparently someone fired a gun in the Inset one night around that time, glad it wasn't on one of the rare nights I was in there
