The hope and anchor and bowling green in cellarhead. Used to go the Hope, was pretty popular in the late 70s, can't ever remember stepping foot in the other one tho. Think Maureen Flowers kept it at the time.

When I was 15/16 years old and starting to drink underage in Castle, the Crossways was the one pub you kept away from as it was frequented by members of the constabulary as the cop station was just around the corner.

Stoke itself has lost God knows how many, when I first started drinking you could pub crawl in Stoke and not have a drink in every one, there was that many,Liverpool rd.itself must have had about 6/7 pubs. The D road got rid of the Red Lion,Trent Tavern,The Wharve Tavern plus others. The Ring o Bells closed before I was old enough to drink. The Vic.Uncle Tom's Cabin, the Dolphin The Vine have all bitten the dust. If you pub crawled in Stoke now,you would go home sober.

I dunno, must still be around a dozen depending how far down London Road you're prepared to go. I keep meaning to visit the Red Lion, it's rebuilt in a museum in Derby, I wasn't old enough to drink when it was taken down.

I used to love the wine bar at the bottom end of Merrial Street in Newcastle where the gentlemen's club is now, previously the Compasses. Decent food and service and a good crowd in there back in the day. It all ended when the proprietors cleared off to open a burger bar/cafe up at Shelton. On the subject of wine bars Candles used to heave back in the day. Candles was always busy, standing room only at the weekends, part of our route towards ritzy Heaths wine bar down the Ironmarket ?

I'll count West End pubs in just in case

I believe that the alleged gunshot was no more than one of my Friday night lager and lime farts. My arsehole was like the beginning of Bonanza.

That pub was built to last forever. Can’t believe it’s gone. Took MrsBath there on way back from footie, in our early days. Played bar skittles & drank Bass. Used to play the Robin at Darts. People's lifaestyles have changed. RIP.

The George and Dragon just down from Meir Heath, on the road out to Stone. In the very early 1960s it was a typical country pub. Run by Tom Moreton and his wife Olive.
After Tom died, the pub suffered building extensions, beer garden, food - until it became a restaurant that sold beer. It's gone all together now.

Halfway House, Anchor Rd, Longton - RIP
Some very fond memories come flooding back when I think of the nights I've had in there.
Ken kept a stonking pint of Pedigree in them days.. not having a cellar at The Gardeners meant it was never quite as good during the summer months.

I think that I am correct in saying that he is buried in the churchyard in Moddershall. Apparently his will stated that he would be buried within earshot of "time gentlemen please" from The Boar.
