I agree that you cannot vote Tory and complain about something like this. Why? Coates has every right to pay him what he wants, it doesn't mean we can't complain about it.

The anomaly is that Peter Coates is a massive Labour Party supporter and benefactor and he doesn’t seem to have a problem with it!

Let's reward failure, no wonder the players don't give a shit! At the same time. The win bonus will be stopped

This more than anything tells the story of why we are, where we are today. Pathetic complacency and the owners getting the full reward their incompetence deserves. It's not just the playing side either, I spent a grand for some club services recently, the people were nice but the processes and journey was as painful as fuck. Twice I nearly told them to shove it up their arse. Be interested to hear the full story about this Momo.

No idea where he stands with regard to other CEO's pay, he doesn't scout the players, he doesn't coach them, he literally signs the cheques once the coates approve the signing, plenty to criticise him for stuff in his control, commercial incomes, ticketing, parking, match day experience, online services etc etc but it isn't his fault the team has been shit for last 2-3 years. He is part of the transfer committee that we have/had. When the money came rolling in, Scholes turned completely into putty. And even with the money, couldn't get deals over the line either.
Lemina always sticks out in memory to me, embarrasing. One day SSN had us signing him, then Southampton signed him!

Cedric Soares was at the training ground too. Being shown around etc and we let him get away. I get it happens but it must have happened so often.

He’s shite and want him gone. Just seems a bit of a nob to be honest.
Although don’t blame him for taking the wage increase, who wouldn’t.

He is part of the transfer committee that we have/had. As the money man I would expect him to be but do you honestly believe he has serious input in the choice of player other than this ? I would hope he is there to stop us chasing rainbows as were prone to for a while. He has a say in which transfers get the go ahead and which don't. Don't forget all the transfer and contract negotiations are done by hin.

Extract - Club Statement Following Relegation Unfortunately the squad became unbalanced and perhaps we lost some of the core values that have served us so well and are so crucial when you have a bad spell. It is absolutely clear that a major overhaul is required. We need to regain our identity and focus and the summer will be spent doing this. It is right that supporters will question whether we should have made a managerial change sooner. As a family we are inherently loyal people and this loyalty has served us well in business. We will always give people that little bit longer than most to prove themselves and this will continue.

Controversial opinion he helped cut the wage bill by £33m paying less than 1% of that in extra salary to CEO would normally be considered a good deal, plus its not just salary its total remuneration package including pension, any bonuses etc etc Good point, well made Most people though will hold him responsible for the recruitment process and think if he hadn't of done his bit we wouldn't have had to cut the wage bill

I hope not. But it doesn't tally with what I see and what I've been told. I want what I've been told to not be true. It doesn’t remotely exonerate him anyway, he’s admitted he does contracts and transfer fees in public. Which have been absolutely insane. Overcommitment to aged players. Pointless contract extensions Removal of win bonuses Some players staying on PL wages creating two tier wage system Basic club infrastructure despite 10 years in the PL. Overblown transfer fees. Failure to shift players. Enough to hang him with there even if he never even had a say on who it was he was negotiating a contract with. The thing is it isnt too long ago people were claiming we were losing players because Scholes was low balling bids now he pays over the odds. I agree the big purchases Imbula, Wimmer, Berahino have been exceptionally poor buys but bog standard championship players go for £12-£15m so I dont see we massively overpaid just they turned out to be well shit. Like I said plenty to criticise him for that is down to him whereas identifying players and using them is down to the manager / football transfer team.

Contemptible and deplorable example to set that the prime individual responsible for failure after failure is rewarded with a lucrative increase . Culturally it’s bankrupt behaviour and utterly and totally the wrong example for. Players staff and supporters
Makes certain players behaviour totally understandable if the chief executive excepts no financial responsibility for failure why should they .
Of all the crimes committed in the role this is the most despicable betrays a lack of honour courage and dignity beyond comprehension .
Disgusting .

Criticise him for stuff that is down to him not the manager / transfer team not hard to understand surely ?

Controversial opinion he helped cut the wage bill by £33m paying less than 1% of that in extra salary to CEO would normally be considered a good deal, plus its not just salary its total remuneration package including pension, any bonuses etc etc The absolute minimum you would expect him to do would be to manage costs after revenue plummeted - on his watch. It’s like borrowing somebody your car, them not insuring it and smashing it up and them expecting gratitude when they got £500 back for the scrap.

Oh well he’s got to pay for his new place in Marbella.
Amazing that he’s not been hounded out of this place, no doubt the players will see this as another excuse to down tools, their bonuses go and boom he pops up with my rise. Incredible.

£131 million paid out in wages over the last 2 seasons. Unbelievable. The players should be paying us to watch them.
