So are you prepared to let him try take us back up? I’m commenting on the fact that you stated that lose Tuesday that MON must be sacked, nothing else. Absolutely ridiculous assertion I think the term "ridiculous" has taken on a new meaning in the recent history of SCFC. We are in a situation where every point is critical. If we lose to Luton it isn't just a bad result. .. It's disastrous... We are in a spate of relatively "easy" games this month. He's got to get a win Tuesday whatever it takes. If he doesn't then we need to take decisive action quickly.

Pep Guardiola at Barcelona - though he was the kids' former youth manager. They were struggling when he was made senior manager - although not quite on the same level of shit that we are. Klopp at Mainz, similar story. Solskær at Manure. This list goes on and on. Klopp was relegated with Mainz. Was he really? wow, would not have thought that. Just shows.

Well.. The fucking Club wants putting into Administration and Michael wants a P45. So you think a licensed insolvency practitioner could run a football club better? Probably yes.

I'm clutching at straws a little, well actually a lot, but there might actually very possibly be a chance that under Michael O Neill a quiet revolution might be under way. Little things are happening and small changes are being effected. Apart from the scottish assistant (Mckinley? not heard much from him yet) coming in, we suddenly have Andy Quy being replaced as Goalkeeping Coach by Rowse, indications of forward planning such as the return of Verlinden in January. the so far ineffective intention to maintain a settled team.etc But all of these things together suggest that the Manager is looking at every aspect of the club and trying to apply reasoned and constructive thought processes to the situation and thinking long term solutions.

No, he doesn't. He could play nippy youngsters like Sorensen, Jarvis and others, or at least pick them from the bench, instead he chooses players that have already failed to deliver on a consistent basis over the last 12-18 months. That would be an improvement Anything would be improvement ! But it doesn't explain why the club are signing wimmer berahino etc for millions , when they should be signing Henry Watkins etc for pennies I think the boards policy of flooding the squad with hopeless millionaire footballing hasbeen puddings , makes the Stoke managers job more difficult than it should be First of all I don't think any more 8-figure signings will be made in the present or near future. Secondly there is no board policy of "flooding the squad with hopeless millionaire hasbeen puddings". The board didn't initiate any of the shit signings, they just approved the signings that previous managers (and the CEO and wannabee DOF) set up, because they trusted the managers and other staff. Foolishly you might say, blindly for sure, but they backed Hughes, Rowett, and to a far lesser degree, Jones without questioning whether it was money well spent. It's rumoured that some signings were rejected, but by and large the board was happy to let other people spend their money. So you're barking up the wrong tree. It's previous managers' folly that is making the current incumbent's job difficult. O'Neill knew that when he took the job.

And to be fair he might just be that man because he can go back to NI anytime by the look of it.

I hope so because some home truths need ramming down that boards throat. Edit And not meaning to sound stereotypical and being the child of Irish parents I know your average Irish man isn't shy of a good old argument and saying exactly what he thinks. O'Neil could actually turn out to be the management consultancy that we have needed for a long time.

A lot of chairmen/boards fail miserably with their projects, because they have no idea how football works. Coates at least has some idea, but actually not a lot more than the average fan. He thinks of himself as a fan with money, doing good for the community, not as a businessman. You can keep shouting incompetence at them as much as you like, it doesn't change the fact that it's the owners' prerogative to run their toy like they choose. I must have missed where this "process" thing came into being. It gets used a lot, always with inverted commas, usually with some universally acknowledged smirk, but I have no idea why.

So they leave me with the impression they are incompetent. I think I am on the right track because the last 4 years is pretty damning evidence. Edit; And also other boards and chairmen fail, yes agreed there but not many do it with the riches we have had. We are the classic case of all the gear and no fucking idea. However you cook it up our board have been an utter shambles.

In any line of business, when a poor appointment is made it is important for both sides that the decision is reversed as soon as possible.
It is already clear that our beloved club have made a poor decision and they need to extract themselves from it quickly.

Yes you are clutching. It's very much a standard thing that staff changes whenever a new manager comes in; it just didn't happen straight away this time because O'Neill didn't have a complete team with him in his previous job. It's not necessarily a good thing, because it breaks off the continuity around the place, and once a manager is sacked, you then have to pay off not only him but his array of staff too, which, in Rowett's case, was a huge group of people, possibly as many as 15. It's just a little dramatric now because Quy had survived five managers.

Spot on It’s just that they are too naive and trusting The biggest fuck ups start with the managers ! Look at who we signed Hughes fancy footballers from abroad his choice Rowett players he wanted at his previous club Jones league two standard players again his choices they had to be The boards biggest failings are having to much trust in the managers decisions It’s like letting a small child loose in a toy shop with loads of money they spend it on what they like but not necessarily what they need. The January transfer window will make or break MON It could be one of the most important in the clubs history We will then see the cut of his jib and be able to judge what he is about. Until then it’s pick and mix if I’m being honest with him

And therein lies "the process".

Direct every bit of anger at the players and the people in the boardroom, they're the biggest problem. They are indeed, the problem is that the club is apparently according to some posters their toy therefore they can do what the hell they want to do with it, which sadly is true in many ways, they have funded making this huge mess with millions of pounds now that takes some special kind of business acumen, a succession of disastrous decisions on and off the pitch four failed managers leading to the most expensive squad in the league destined for relegation to the third division with a points deduction, it's looking likely division four is where they are taking the club.

I don't think he's a poor appointment, but I don't think things would be any different if we'd kept Jones, apart from that we would have beaten West Brom.
The motivation of the players is the biggest factor and that runs deeper than the manager. They need to start taking responsibility when we play in the unglamorous games, instead of playing as if the grind of Championship football is beneath them.
