I think the trick to turning this round is to persevere with a starting 11 that you’d back for the next 6-8 games. I’d go with:

Back four is suicide with our lack of holding midfielders, have to play a back three for that reason. We have fuck all wingers too, so I think wingbacks instead and a front two makes more sense.
We could have the versatility of playing an attacking mid in home games, a 5-2-1-2. For away or tougher games we could play a 5-1-2-2 and take off the number 10 and pop someone covering Etebo and Clucas.

I agree with the rationale, with the odd one or two differences in personnel. That formation surely works best for the squad we are now stuck with, at least until the end of December. |

We had a bloke called Erik Pieters for that position 6 weeks ago, 200 Prem games for Stoke City and 20 full international caps for the Netherlands but it was deemed we had better options in surely the most mystifying decision of a truly drug addled summer. |
