To be honest I don’t really care which 11 are picked(so long as they are roughly in the correct position), I just want some consistency in players for a few games do they can build some sort of understanding with each other. Why Jones thinks randomly picking players out of a hat every game and sending them out with a new formation each week is a good idea I have no idea. I really thought he would do well but now I am starting to wonder

My analysis is as follows: During the transfer window the club brought in: Davies, Cousins, Gregory, Lindsay, Powell, Ward, and Smith; plus loanees Hogan, Carter-Vickers, and Duffy. However the regular players have been: Butland 5, Lindsay 6, Batth 6, Smith 5, Allan 5, McClean 6, Clucas 8, Woods 5, Ince, 5, Gregory 5 Only Lindsay, Gregory, and Smith appear on both lists! Powell has been out due to injury and known to be a regular "no shower". Of the regular players only Woods and McClean have put in decent performances, yet both are not totally suited to the positions they have been playing. Woods is unable to defend and McClean is still learning a new role. But we are stuck with them. We have had too many defenders making silly mistakes, only Butland has actually been dropped ( + Edwards?) We have a total lack of creativity. Jones has one last throw of the dice and if I was him I would put my faith in youthful talent and those players who have let him down least and have the least stench of failure: Federici Edwards Collins Indi McClean Verlinden Woods Etebo Clucas Powell (Duffy) Gregory Campbell
bench Butland, Smith, Carter-Vickers, Batth, Hogan, Ince, + 1 I'd go with a conventional back 4 with proper left side and right side players to give width. Creativity from Powell or Duffy and speed from Campbell, which clearly troubled Leeds. Gregory is preferred to Vokes to hold the ball played long from deep. I 100% agree & was about to award this the "most sensible post of the day" award until I saw your ideal line-up started with 12 players =D that's one way out of this mess, start with 12 and hope no-one notices!

When all are fit and up to speed this is my team. Would try Butland again after some games as well. Allen to compete With Woods and Badou.

He's also not the best as a traditional fullback. If you want to play Edwards the best option would be as a right wingback in a back 5. If you want to play a flat back 4 Ward is the obvious choice - and I'd put Smith, Clucas and McClean ahead of Edwards.

Butland Edwards BMI Collins Clucas Woods Badou Etebo Powell Gregory Campbell 4-1-2-1-2 Pretty much this for me but I'd consider giving Allen a go as defensive midfield and it's a toss up of ward or clucas at left back. My biggest worry is that a lot is relying on Powell to stay fit and badou actually showing an interest, two massive ifs.

We need some pace in the side. We don’t have much but suffer badly through lack of it. No pace for some time now!
I’d go-
Butland
Edwards Carter Vickers Bmi Clucas
N’Diaye Etebo
Ince Powell Campbell
Voke Genuinely believe Vokes, if fed, will score goals. Harsh on Gregory and Hogan I know. Edwards crossing would be key. Not sure on Powell , butseen enough of his Wigan exploits to think of fit then needs to start.

Well this thread just about sums up our squad. The amount of different formations and players is endless and very few here are the same. When Jones doesn't play certain players, people moan. When Jones plays a different formation, people moan. When players are brought back in and we lose again, people moan. These are supposed to be professional footballers paid a lot of money to play football. Why cant they do that when called upon.

Butland
Smith CCV Lindsay McClean
Woods
Etebo Badou
Duffy
Powell Campbell Stop playing wide as often, straight down the middle with our best players. The FB's lack of quality is a hindrance and should be avoided through play. We will score goals with this team too imo. Question marks over Duffy & Campbell coming through 90 minutes but if you can get them playing for most matches, together, it should be pretty good to watch - and effective.

Davies; Edwards, Collins, Carter-Vickers, McClean; Woods; Etebo, Allen; Powell; Hogan, Gregory.
The diamond was working fine, we were playing teams off the pitch & had one of the most shots for & fewest against in the league, we were only being let down by Butland being a liability & finding a way to let the odd shot the opposition did have go passed, through or under him.

If you were there at the start of the season playing that formation our goal difference would have been horrendous. I know we have issues at fullback/wingback but not playing any is a bit extreme. Given our goalkeeping issues we could solve that by playing a mid fielder instead I suppose. What the hell.

I've tried to do this a couple of times and ended up deleting what I was about to post because I genuinely have no clue anymore I’ve just deleted mine, luckily nobody quoted it, I’m going to redo it now, it looked unbalanced but I think that was due to the unequal amount of dots I used between players 😊
