We need to stop this nonsense of changing managers every five minutes. We went from being a very stable club to one with ridiculous fan expectations. It remains to be seen whether Jones will deliver, but provided we don't end up in a relegation battle, we will need to give him all of this season at least.

After Saturday's performance I'm actually feeling a lot more positive for the season than I was a week ago. It's a long hard season. It may take more time than we all hoped for. Aston Villa got promoted to the Prem despite only getting 18 points from their opening 15 matches. I understand people looking at Jones' overall record here and writing him off but for me he's had 2 games with his own team. Being without our best defender and midfielder hasn't helped but that can't be used as an excuse with the size of the squad. If we play like we did against Charlton this Saturday then I think we'll win. Aston Villa won 10 on the bounce to do that. We've won 18 times out of 86. What did Leicester have to do to win the Premiership? Before they started on their amazing run of form, how many had they won? Reminds me of my Stock Broker whose favorite line is .... Past (non)performance is not a guarantee of future performance.

I really believe things are hotting up under Jones now.
Once again the result was not indicative of the match. We had an incredible 24 shots, but only 6 on target and just one goal . We dominated most of the match, the passing was of high percentage accuracy (and not all sideways and backwards), and as against Charlton we dominated the corner count. Someone is going to get a thrashing off us soon, if we keep up this improved form.
48 shots in 3 matches is much better than we have achieved in years. Keep playing like this and the results will follow.
Furthermore it is wonderful to see young players now regularly in the Stoke side. I do not expect to see them every match, in fact I don't want us to damage their potential by burning them out too soon. A wonderful touch tonight from Jones, having dropped Collins to the bench after his mistake against QPR, it was a master stroke to bring him back in this cup match and give him the captaincy. He must now be bursting with pride.
There will be set backs along the way, like Norwich's home defeat by us last season, but it did not deflect them from going on to win the Championship. We seem to have a surfeit of talent in the squad now, who may not be world beaters but are up for the contest. Jones problem is to find the best blend that brings the synergy needed to produce a truly effect team.

A 0-1 win over Wigan reserves and He’s the greatest thing since oatcakes were introduced to staffordshire. 😄
Seriously though, it does feel as though this might be the beginning of something if we can start to put away those chances.
The squad looks like it’s got really good strength in depth now.

I think a win against Derby could be the start of a good run under Jones - I think it's genuinely that close from "clicking". I'd give Cambell a go on Saturday, he looked bright and everything that this Stoke team needs.

Why do people persist with banging the same drum about the team he inherited in Jan as an excuse for the poor run of form we witnessed Butland, Edwards, Batth, Collins, Ryan, Mclean, Woods, Allen, Etebo, Clucas, Ince and Vokes are all very much starting XI candidates as far as Jones is concerned and they were back in Jan
Please stop

Me too, mate. 100%. Respect to you as well, OP as this forum is, by far and beyond, the most thick and depressing one on the internet. All credit to you, mate. Vis Unita Fortior. Bring on Derby.

There have been a few stumbling steps indicating he might be about to walk the walk. Good result last night. Now just win on Saturday

Who'd have thought in May 2008 when we were getting promoted and they were relegated under Ian Holloway where the two clubs would be 11 years later? And Coates isn't ambitious? After he has spent the wads of money on Stoke that he has???? That's a lame dodge to the point I raised that, at that time, Leicester had managed just 2 wins in 24 games and LOST 17 of those 24. Then they put together a run of only 4 losses in 47 games to avoid relegation and lift the Premier League title. Form always changes, don't simply look at past results and think you can predict future performance.

Oh and by the way, to address your last sentence, with few exceptions, Football is a cyclical beast. Who'd have thought we'd be where we were in 2008 when 12 years earlier, we were relegated to the third tier just 24 months after losing to Leicester in the play-offs to reach the PRemier League. I'm sure we will swap places again within the next 10 years.

Another really good performance, Hogan off the mark and Woods having another belting game. McClean putting in a great shift at left-back and showing signs of adapting to his new role.
Hitting the woodwork twice and giving away a needless penalty, Derby stole a point there but at least we're off the mark.
I normally defend Allen, but he didn't have a good game today, and I think Jones will go further in my estimations if he drops him for Pete (Clucas had another good game).
Things are coming together for all to see, we look dynamic and I can't remember the last time we had so many shots at goal. Great support shown today, get behind the boys, this is a marathon not a sprint.

Norwich lost 2 and drew one. But I agree, I don't think there's much one can extrapolate out of the opening 3 games win or lose. Luton lost 2 and drew 1 of their first 3 games too, both ending up as champions on 94 points. It’s a sign I tell thee! It is ON boys and girls, I’m telling yer! #Champions #94points
