season long loans usually can’t be recalled can they? I think if Bruno leaves, we’ll see an experienced free agent come in as 4th choice. It wouldn’t surprise me entirely if that free agent was Ashley Williams Current Free Agents Gary Cahill Ashely Williams Martin Skrtel Daniel Schwaab Jonas Ramalho Timothee Kolodziejczak Martin Caceres Joel Lynch Of that list I'd definitely go for Skrtel or Cahill. But we need a big name, and with 21 letters Timothee Kolodziejczak looks good. Imagine the guy in the shop printing that or replica shirts.

I'd definitely be in favour of keeping BMI and Wimmer if we can't rid of them for sensible fees/loan deals. €4m over four years is a joke of a fee. Hate to think how much money we've wasted over the last couple of years shifting players in and out when we could have just kept the likes of Wimmer as bench warmers. Even this year, we've spent £2m to bring in a CB that has only played in League One in his career to date, to replace a CB with plenty of top flight and international experience, who we are only getting €4m for (spread over 4 seasons), and who actually finished the season very strongly. Just seems mental when there are gaping holes elsewhere in the team. Lyndsey has already had a season in the Championship Yeah fair point he does!

It’s pants really but I suppose a necessary evil.

Agreed. I’d recall Souttar myself and be happy with that. season long loans usually can’t be recalled can they? I think if Bruno leaves, we’ll see an experienced free agent come in as 4th choice. It wouldn’t surprise me entirely if that free agent was Ashley Williams I don’t know tbh, I doubt we will do it anyway even if we could. Yeah that wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest.

Get him gone and get the money off the books.

I'd let him go for 4m euros. He'll be one who's on well over £1m-a-year - far too much for a back-up centre-half in this league. And he clearly wants to leave. It would leave us needing another CB though.
And finding an adequate one who's happy to come in and really scrap for minutes with Batth, Lindsay and Collins probably won't be a walk in the park.

Indeed it wouldn’t and the last 2/3 windows we’ve sold a player we needed to keep and then not replaced him. That’s my worry here.

I'd get rid as it's another expensive player linked to our demise over the last couple of years. Reinvest the money on a replacement.

He came from Porto's bench to play football for Stoke in the Premier League, and is then 4th choice CB in the Championship. He can't exactly be enthralled at the prospect. Get him gone and get a bit of dosh back for him.

Surely this decision comes down to two points; do we think keeping Bruno will make the difference between getting or not getting promoted this season and/or are we really building something for the future. I personally don't think he'll make the difference so it would be better to shift the wages and give the game time to someone that will be here in a few years time. It looks like it's a easy decision for me.

I wouldn't bother buying another, since they would inevitably jump ahead of Collins and be surplus when Ryan gets back.
I would just keep a triumvirate of Baath, Lindsay and Collins, with Souttar on standby.

Souttar wont have a long spell loan though if that's the case, we will always need a CB on the bench and the chances of a suspension, strain, knock etc are quite high

I'd let Bruno go, although we take the risk of only having three centre backs and Sottar on a 24 hour recall (does that sort of loan still exist?). In the first game v QPR, Lindsay is suspended so we have no option but to put Souttar on the bench for that. It's a tough one but Collins should be going right up the pecking order. He'll be the man in possession from QPR onwards.

But we might not even be able to do that.

I don't think you can recall anybody on a season-long loan deal, unless you do so in the January transfer window. That could well be a load of shit, but I'm fairly certain you can't just recall Souttar as and when.

There are decent enough CB’s available on for free or on loan
Cahill for 1yr as player coach would be ideal

Yeah - think we can forget Souttar, at least until January. www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/how-many-loan-players-can-13314316When can loan signings be made? The EFL scrapped the emergency loan system last season, meaning that loan deals can only be struck during the summer or January transfer window. This means moves will either be six-month or season-long deals. Any recall clauses only apply to season-long loans, and can only be activated in the January window .

I know you can’t recall anybody on 6 month or full season loans but I’m unaware that you can do it before a ball is kicked?
