Well I was 50/50 and would probably decided on the day and turned up.
Like many others don’t think I will bother now.
Had it been free for ST holders I, and I am sure many others, would have definitely turned up.

What is it you’re not grasping? Basic sense. We have a manager in his first full season, with loads of new signings and he's desperate to try and generate a good atmosphere amongst the supporters. What better way to try and fill the stadium on the last Saturday before the season starts? Kids go free, kids for a quid, free for Season ticket holders... whatever. Derby did it against us a few Pre Seasons ago. They let all Season ticket holders in for nothing and the ground was pretty much full. It was a good game and a great atmosphere. The Stoke end was packed out and they reciprocated nicely. Just imagine the kind of start to the season we could potentially have with a good performance against Leicester with a full stadium? It isn't moaning for moaning's sake, it's looking at what the club aren't doing and commenting in sheer frustration. ...and yes, they deserve all the praise in the world for the free transport and frozen season ticket prices. Why don’t you give the club a call and put all those points to them. Or ask the supporters council to do it on your behalf. They’re all valid points and should be aired

I've contacted the club many times in the past and all you get back is generic emails thanking you for your 'feedback' and that is as far as it goes. I'll gladly pass my comments onto the council, or they can happily pick them up from here I'd they are reading as they should be!

But everything is wonderful because the club offer free travel.
When will the happy clappers realise that nothing the club does is free, it’s just taxed elsewhere so that the majority pay for the system used by the minority.
Booking fee’s, overpriced friendlies & cup matches.
Free coaches my arse.

The season tickets is the one thing this club does get right but again that’s only because they know that a marked increase would see a drastic drop off in sales.

Some people just have to find something to moan about. Whatever the club do, it’s just not good enough for some folk. Anyone wanting to go to this game can either, purchase a ticket online, by telephoning the ticket office directly, or by getting to the ground by 2.00pm. It’s not difficult is it? Get there for 1.45, buy your ticket and go have a beer. I’m waiting for the day to come when we have ‘ The grass is too green’ moan. Get a grip of yourselves, otherwise , it’s going to be a very long season for some. What, like when you are flying to America from Heathrow, you mean? It's totally unnecessary for a friendly game of football

It’s a business at the end of the day. You don’t see Macdonalds giving out free burgers every week, or taxi drivers offering free rides on a Monday do you. Why does everyone think they should get something for free nowadays??? Yes it would have been a fantastic gesture by the club to offer free entry to season card holders to the Leicester game and I’m sure they looked at every avenue with regards pricing etc, but you don’t see many (if any) teams offering free entry to pre-season games anymore. It’s the world we live in unfortunately.

For my 'sins' I now travel regularly between Guernsey and Vegas and will be retiring to the later in the not so distant future. If you want the best/worst of capitalistic behaviour you can't get any better than Vegas. The strip and its satellite buildings are completely designed to remove as much money from as many people and quickly as possible with the minimum effort ! But they are also somewhat pragmatic about how to do it. They offer comp dollars, free shows, comp food vouchers, eat all you can buffet's for a $1, freebee tee shirts etc etc. There are loyalty casino cards where you amass points and get free nights, free drinks, free food , free clothes etc etc. Its a very successful and profitable model. I have my favourite casino's and places to stay on the strip because of this and use them often. There is 'brand loyalty' from the customer and the more the use the 'brand' the better the rewards. There is a lot to be learnt from Vegas and what it has to offer tourists and locals alike. Some really good idea's and some really bad. GD

Often though the McDonalds undergo an overhaul after a period of struggle, refurb their outlet and hand out free vouchers to tempt customers back to show them their overhaul is complete and they have learned from their past mistakes under new management. They do this with a view to gaining more regular customers. Basic common and business sense.

As has been alluded to, in many posts above, there is no business sense in the ticketing for this game.
If those running the club were let us say the boys team, in BBC's the apprentice.
Alan Sugar would be saying... your job was to sell the maximum amount of soft drinks, beers, pies, ice creams shirts, programmes etc to maximise your revenue. I have given you an attractive fixture in the kids school holidays, when families are crying out for a cheap day out, and you have given me 22000 empty seats. You are all idiots and you are all fired !
And the girls team, who sold out their friendly at let us say Derby, would be laughing themselves silly, and looking forward to a nice spa break in a five star hotel, paid for by Sir Alan.

Even the FREE hot drink you can get means you have to buy 6 first. All subjective I know but basically there’s not a lot free in this world today.

If the club sold the tickets for even a fiver (free for kids) that's all anyone is getting at. I bet loads would go on a family day out with that and be great for the kids and get more of them into it. I took my nieces and nephews last year - cost me about £90 for the family and the atmosphere was awful as hardly anyone was there so I'm not doing it again. Last year they did the open training day as well which was great for the kids but nothing this year. Didn't bother to announce the signings for weeks, no coverage of preseason. It's been shit.

Does anyone know whether if you pre-book tickets you can still pick them up from the ticket office immediately before the game? Or will it just be completely closed and shuttered an hour before the game?

And does anyone know if the bars are going to be operating in the concourses? Went to Lincoln last night - no beer in the away end I have emailed the club but their "customer charter" or whatever says they will reply within 14 days, so I expect they'll email me a week on Tuesday to say they don't know. Any genuine info would be welcome

Just to answer my own question, having just phoned them, the ticket office will still be open for pre-booked ticket collections after 2:00pm. It's just sales that stop after that time.
