Will he get a chance though, the manager is already criticising him despite scoring, which some of his team mates can't manage at all. If he can only manage an hour but scores a couple of goals when picked not many will beat that anyway. He hasn't criticised him, he's merely (and correctly) stated he needs to be more durable. Spoken to certain people re Jones and they all say the same thingy: Jones is incredibly positive and the players have responded massively. Time for supporters to climb out of default Waldorf and Stadtler grumble mode and get behind him. Different types of criticism : 1) Logical Criticism : 2) Aesthetic Criticism : 3) Positive Criticism : 4) Factual Criticism : 5) Constructive Criticism : 6) Destructive Criticism : 7) Negative Criticism : 8) Partial Criticism :

150/1 for Stoke to win the league and Vokes top scorer on SkyBet. Think I'll take a punt on that! Smelling salts required

He can cover Powell's position for a start, hes a more rounded & versatile player than gayle and finished top championship goal scorer before Burnley signed him. Hes quick, creative, tricky & clinical confront of goal. Derby fans love him. At some point the chances are powell will be out injured, then we are relying on ince & verlinden at number 10? Promotion? No chance. If we signed vydra he could play alongside vokes if Afobe doesn't do it or drop straight in Powell's position when hes injured or out of form. A better option for us than gayle in every way every day of the week for me Thought Vydra played mostly as a No.10 at Derby? Rowett had the opportunity to bring him to Stoke but for some odd reason must have thought that Stoke's existing strikeforce was full of goals .... Not seen his record as an out-and-out striker. I'm not a stat man myself I dont know but if he can be the championships top goalscorer in a Gary rowett team as a number 10 he is a player worth looking seriously at imo. He definitely plays striker & I can see him being a big player in Jones system

That's just what the bookie will be thinking! Haha! Well it beats the £5 I put on Berahino being top scorer last year.

Younger and cheaper, yes. No idea how you come to the conclusion that he's better He can cover Powell's position for a start, hes a more rounded & versatile player than gayle and finished top championship goal scorer before Burnley signed him. A better option for us than gayle in every way every day of the week for me I suspect that it was the failure to sign Vydra that cost Rowett his job. Vydra doesn't seem to be doing much at Burnley and might be available for less, much less, than the £20 million Newcastle are asking for Gayle. He reminds me of Jimmy Greenoff in some ways, not as good overall though, but I would see him combining well with Powell as Greenoff and Hudson used to do in the seventies. I have never seen any football from a Stoke City team to compare with this era and it all hinged on the Hudson/Greenoff partnership. My view of Gayle is that he is a goal poacher who depends on speed and reactions in the penalty area more so than the overall play of the team. Vydra has the ability to score as many as Gayle whilst contributing more to the team as a whole im my opinion.

I've read the reason he's not getting much of a look in at burnley is because their current starters have been performing well and hitting double figures, although the burnley fans would like to see more of him. He might want to leave to play football and burnley maybe open to a decent offer for that reason, and as you say, much less than Gayle

Rowett didn't want Vydra. Seeing as he finished their and the leagues top scorer there is every reason to ask why this is. It may well be he knew he wouldn't get him after dropping him in a massive game? Fall out? Maybe knew he was off to burnley?

He outright said when he arrived that he didn't plan on playing a number 10, which was Vydra's position, and as you said, he didn't seem to trust him in big games.

I just know powell is going to get injured because :
1) he has been injury prone and we seem to be cursed like that
2) hes a massive part of what we want to do 3) hes a good footballer and I'm looking forward to watching him 4) I dont like ince and I know it's going to be him covering

It's a remarkable (bad) record we have with penalties just recently (he says going back two years or more?) and I can't ever remember anyone having such a poor one like us.
