I have no doubt we'd have stayed up with him in the side, but when you look at his behaviour over the last few years was it possible/worth it to keep him? This must be his 4th transfer request in 3 years which have lead to 2 new contracts, 1 move and whatever happens here.

As snake as it felt, he's the best Stoke player we've had in absolutely years with Zonz. It'd be stupidity to not have him back. Only Fuller in recent times had that ability to get you out of your seat in anticipation of something fantastic happening.
It'll never happen obviously, nor would I expect it to, but he's class footballer. He can do better than China but I think it's become clear that the money talks the loudest.

If reports are true about him asking for a transfer I cannot see a way back for him at West Ham. It could be good news for us.
