Still by far, the most talented footballer seen at Stoke City in the last 25 years .And those offered as contradictions to this, were simply never doing it consistently in higher leagues and at the highest levels Arnies has been doing nor, on the world stage either. We were blesssed to have probably the nearest Stoke City will ever see to an 'Eric Cantona'. Good luck to him.

If reports are true about him asking for a transfer I cannot see a way back for him at West Ham. It could be good news for us. Problem is that he's had a shitter of a season for West Ham, so his value will have dropped quite a bit. We'll probably end up with 20% of £10m or so. Better than a kick in the bollox, but not worth getting moist over.

Marko Arnautovic: "West Ham are a bigger, more ambitious club than Stoke" Nothing says ambition like slumming it in china.
Hardly slumming it, 6th biggest League in the world now and sneaking up on the Mexican league but is obviously money orientated.

Only if we then sell him straightaway with a 25% add on (which will be another 25% of the 20 we're already getting plus 25 of the new one) plus other add-ons totalling in the region of £10M...all in all we might afford to buy us a leftback! Stop my heads hurting 😂 He won't fit into the diamond anyway. And even if we sack Jones just to make an Arnie space in the team, he will be asking for a transfer within six months, which will be rejected, followed by another six weeks later. The only thing that could make him want to stay longer is if we keep Bojan, give him a six year contract, and invite Shaqiri to come on loan.

Most sources I've seen don't have them near the top 10. One uses transfer fees as a co-efficient (correct usage? I'm a bit thick.) which would skew scores for the intentionally inflated fees in china.

The Chinese Super League is one of the most popular professional sports leagues in China, with an average attendance of 24,107 for league matches in the 2018 season. This is the twelfth-highest of any domestic professional sports league in the world and the sixth-highest of any professional association football league in the world, behind Bundesliga, Premier League, La Liga, Serie A and Liga MX. Wikipedia seems to agree

Is attendance enough (especially in an over-populated china) to judge the quality of the league though?
I still think it's fair to say he's slumming it.

GeneralFaye: Parallel thinking, I swear. Vastly improving league and getting worldwide audiences on TV in many countries. Don't think you'd go there for anything but money but like the J League in the 90s is up there

His new contract with West Ham that he signed back in January is worth £10 million a year. Just how much money does the greedy twat want?

Indeed, but it was the choice of replacement that was the real issue. With the effort we put in, replacing Arni like for like was impossible. Why? We put the effort in to scout him and sign him for a relative pittance in the first place?

I find it interesting how may fans rate Arnie as 'by far' the best player we have had in the modern era.
Certainly a contender but missed too many chances for me. Nonzi, Shaqiri better players for me Hoekstra most talented and Fuller the most exciting Stoke players at the new ground. Etherington up there too. Opinions though.

Arnie was the strongest winger I’ve ever seen. I don’t ever recall seeing him getting knocked off the ball. Once he got his big arse in between the defender and the ball it was nigh on impossible. Ball control was impeccable also. Ironic that we were looking for a quality striker throughout his time here and he may well have been the answer himself all along. Still mightily frustrating at times though, he used to annoy the hell out of me when he would receive the ball out on the left and run across the pitch with it instead of going for the bye line and getting a cross in.

Great when he was up for it but too often prone to throwing his hands in the air and sulking when things don't go his way.

He’s such a monumental twat isn’t he?
What kind of bloke signs a 4/5 year contract in January then continues to demand a move? West Ham shouldn’t bend. He’s under contract

You could ask why Brazil aren't higher up if going by population where football is huge of course

I have no doubt we'd have stayed up with him in the side, but when you look at his behaviour over the last few years was it possible/worth it to keep him? This must be his 4th transfer request in 3 years which have lead to 2 new contracts, 1 move and whatever happens here. Not a chance he clearly went on strike when playing in his last year for us. Spent more time on the ground begging to come off it was not good to see Great player but not right in the head
