I find it interesting how may fans rate Arnie as 'by far' the best player we have had in the modern era. Certainly a contender but missed too many chances for me. Nonzi, Shaqiri better players for me Hoekstra most talented and Fuller the most exciting Stoke players at the new ground. Etherington up there too. Opinions though. Arnie was the strongest winger I’ve ever seen. I don’t ever recall seeing him getting knocked off the ball. Once he got his big arse in between the defender and the ball it was nigh on impossible. Ball control was impeccable also. Ironic that we were looking for a quality striker throughout his time here and he may well have been the answer himself all along. Still mightily frustrating at times though, he used to annoy the hell out of me when he would receive the ball out on the left and run across the pitch with it instead of going for the bye line and getting a cross in. His ball control was far from impeccable at times, in fact he made a habit of overhitting his first touch, playing poorly-judged passes and running the ball out of play in his early days with us. His shooting was also pretty wayward to be honest. Great player and more than capable at the top level but nowhere near our “most talented”. He had some big inconsistencies in his game.

He’s such a monumental twat isn’t he? What kind of bloke signs a 4/5 year contract in January then continues to demand a move? West Ham shouldn’t bend. He’s under contract trouble with that is mate they just down tools on you we have enough of them players here who have done it.

Apparently if he does go we are unlikely to get anything for it. China charges 100% tax, so the transfer is viewed as £20m+£20m transfer tax which won't be a profit on the original fee.

So you are saying if he goes for 40 million from the bubble blowers they will only receive twenty of it West Ham don’t pay the Chinese tax And allegedly West Ham don’t need to sell

Still by far, the most talented footballer seen at Stoke City in the last 25 years .And those offered as contradictions to this, were simply never doing it consistently in higher leagues and at the highest levels Arnies has been doing nor, on the world stage either. We were blesssed to have probably the nearest Stoke City will ever see to an 'Eric Cantona'. Good luck to him. Good player, terrible bellend. Has he? Poor lad.

He did, his finishing was pretty piss poor tbh. He’d miss so many chances and then score the harder one. Lovely player though but just not quite got it for the best. If he could finish he’d be at Real Madrid because even with his touch, his strength and directness gets him into positions, it was just the finish that let him down.

They'll want sell him for atleat 35 million so they can make a profit on him if we've got a 20% sell on cluade, that would leave them with 8 million,it's like deja vu with Marko he wanted out of Stoke then said he wanted stay signed a new contract then put in a transfer request and joined West ham afew months later

In which case we'd be looking at 1.5-3 million for a 35 million transfer.

He agreed to sign a new lucrative contract as long as he could leave a year later. Arnie put in his request as planned a year later generating Stoke an extra 16+ million from the sale. Mark Hughes made out Arnie was the bad guy when in fact he did Stoke a massive favour.....hence his dislike to Hughes.

Well rid, but never replaced. Yup. As much as I love Shaq, it was him who was more let goable for us. Agreed,,, Both quality players for us on their day, Sadly attitude wasn't always their strong point but with Arnie it was just getting Tedious he'll cause problems wherever he goes as hes solely motivated by Money and nothing else matters....

Yeah but when its happening every season without fail i'd say its more about a Greedy little pair of Runts who know nothing about honoring your contract and supposedly enjoying your footballing career.....

The way football has been allowed to evolve and the players needing to maximise their income in a limited time means, this typs of behaviour is entirely predictable and will only increase - which, it is doing
Maybe Stoke are going the right way - the way they are signing players now
should be shorter and shorter contracts too - maybe thats the answer - dont give them the security at all
if, they want to be so mercenary.
And after all, what is the point of a transfer fee and a long contract - if the fucker or his agent, trys to force a move or demand increased wages half way through it ( or even, 6 months after signing a new one)
the professional game is reaping what it has sown

Well the WHU fans seem to think we will get 20% of any profit and not a straight 20% of the sell on price. What did we get for him, 24 million ? So if they sell for 25 mill we get 20% of a million ?
Only at Stoke City... 🙄
