With players expected in and out we probably will look something like this I guess? I think both Butland and Allen will be sold before the season gets ahead, and I also know a lot of people won't agree with Ince in the team. I believe in him though, we also still lack a left back. I also think Shawcross should play a number of games instead of Lindsay. Will Collins go to Man U.? ...........................Davies........................... Edwards.........Batth................Lindsay..........Clucas ..........................Cousins........................... .........Ince.................................Etebo......... ...........................Powell........................... ................Vokes.................Gregory...............

Can't see Ince playing what is effectively centre-mid, Rob.
Normally energetic, box-to-boxers there, isn't it?

I think it’ll be more Davies Edwards Batth Lindsay ? Cousins Allen Etebo Powell Vokes Gregory As things stand though I’d rather have Butland, Shawcross, Collins, Badou, Cameron, Bojan and Afobe in the side

Think it looks a side that has a decent chance of beating the drop. 14th-18th ish feel to it. Birmingham, QPR, Hull....esque
15 goals for Vokes, 8 for Gregory and Powell, 4-5 for Afobe from the bench, couple each for Etebo and Clucas... With everyone else weighing in with 1 or 2 we might stagger to 50 odd goals. (Assuming someone can create something!)

It looks pretty wank be fair.
I got more excited about dragging me bollocks across broken glass than I did about these signings.
Signing cheap shite in 2017 got us relegated.
Signing expensive shite made us worse in 2018.
So weve gone back to cheap shite in 2019.

Isn’t it amazing how quickly you go from a team with loads of players the general public are at least aware of to being a team full of names even your own fans have never heard of ! Hopefully it all works out but it goes to show how easy it is for a club like ours to slip back into the shadows.

I think we’re getting there though I still think we’re lacking in some key areas. I’d like to think some of those bought in will be squad players and not starters.
For me I’m hoping the gaps in the team below will be filled. Assuming Butland leaves
.......................Davies..................... Edwards.....Batth....Lindsey.....new ......................Cousins................... ...............Allen.............Etebo.......... ........................Powell..................... ................Vokes..........new.............

Well the fabled June 26th line up promised for many months now in the press and by the manager is decidedly average, and still no goals. Just where would we have been without non British players like Fuller and Sidibe in days gone by? What a crock of shit!

Without the final pieces in place - left full and, possibly, a poacher-type - it's too early to tell how far up the table we will finish. However, even with what we now have, there is no possible way that this team/squad will finish outside the top ten. The players recruited, whilst not likely to set the pulses racing with flair and invention (with the exception of Powell, who could be anything) all have displayed at their latest clubs the passion, commitment and work-ethic that NJ promised, and which are vital components in any team harbouring ambitions towards promotion. Those qualities alone are nearly enough to get a team into the top ten in the championship. Add to this the fact that some of our established players may be inspired by a new atmosphere of positivity around the place, and the absence of some of the disruptive types, it's possible that we might be just one or two short from a squad that might get us up.

With what we've got?
Davies Edwards, Batth, Lindsay, ? ? Allen, Etebo Powell Vokes, Afobe
Jonesy inherited an awful squad yes, but now atleast a third of the whole squad is his. I don't think it's fair to suggest promotion is an expectation this season, but we need to be better than what we have been under him so far.
LB and CDM are absolutely crucial and we need to get it spot on. Fail to do so and no doubt we'll be back to a dysfunctional 4-3-3 by the end of September.
His signings will only have positive effects on the team but none of them are really overwhelming upgrades on what we already have?
I think we'll be better than last season but promotion is a long stretch.

Youve focussed incorrectly on the words expensive and cheap when in fact the only common denominator is the word "shite". Davies is massive step down from Butland. Lindsay is neither here nor there. Bang average pedigree, no better than what we have. Cousins...man alive. Released by Charlton and now released by QPR. Say no more. Gregory. If he was 25 I'd be happy. At best we will get 2 seasons out of him. The grass grows quicker than he runs. Powell. Nope nope and a thousand times nope. Injury prone League One player. It's fucking awful business. Truly awful. Cheap doesn't have to equal shite. Expensive doesn't have too either....unfortunately at Stoke it's a prerequisite. There is not a fan alive who thinks they are any better than what we have, many are worse.

It's obviously a cunning to go down a division so he can get us promoted from League 1, where these players will fit in. Doesn't look like signings that are going to get us anywhere right now.

As I said to bayern last night I will wait to see them play for us before passing judgement but honestly who out of the Sheffield United and Norwich teams last year would you have swapped for any of our players at the start of the season? Without hindsight very few I would say. I bow to your extensive knowledge of all the players we have signed you clearly have seen alot of them, I havnt so I'll wait before I see them before bitching on the oatcake about how shit they are 👍

I would like to see:
...........................Davies...........................
Edwards.........Batth................Lindsay.......... new LB ..........................Cousins...........................
.........Allen.................................Etebo.........
...........................Powell...........................
................Campbell.................Gregory...............
I hope Campbell is the "new" striker and takes the Championship by storm with 20 goals!!!
Joe Allen is best when the game has a high tempo which it will with Jones' new players and without Ince and Afobe "hiding" and Vokes lack of mobility.
Maybe we can loan a promising LB from a top 6 Prem club if we can't find one to buy.

But agreed if he carries on like he did last season then he’s got no chance. He was just so bad. The warnings were there with the Shrewsbury defeat but we let him off. The same mistakes he’d make again and again and again. He showed absolutely nothing to suggest he has a clue what he’s doing. And if it’s just the diamond, is it good having such a one dimensional manager?
