Excellent standard of football in that game with a lot of very talented footballers on show.Delap led the line very well and looks to have a very bright future in the game.Palmer looks a top prospect also.

Such a shame he is where he is under the manager he’s under.
He should have been used way more this season for them.
Quite a few Man City fans pissed off with Pep as he took 3/4 players for a Chanpions League game and then didn’t bring a one of them on when they had already qualified.
The night before their u23s lost to Tranmere in a game where Doyle, Nmecha and Palmer play they would probably win. Awful development plan.

Even with Jesus and Aguero out he barely played. I honestly thought he’d have started a PL game or two. He needs a loan desperately. Would love him here but can’t see it happening.

Still not getting on the Man City bench. Palmer was the other day mind. And Derby had a 15/16 year old get on today.
Delap would have 20/30 games under his belt by now and still a pick of clubs by the time he was 19!
Anyway, he must be looking for a loan?

Can't we send Rory on a 6 month worldwide scouting expedition. Solves the issues.

Yeah - we may be the most likely destination, or the least likely, depending on how they now view the potential father-son issue.

it's a no brainer get him here! he's got the lot, pace, strength, great first touch, can dribble, good in the air , good finisher , will be England mainstay for years to come in the future he'd get plenty of games here either starting or off the bench

Based on our recent record with youngsters, I can't believe I'm actually saying this due to our history but we'd be the ideal place for him to continue his development.
However sadly, due to his father being employed by the club I just can't see it happening.

This is exactly the kind of loan signing we need to make and exactly the kind of loan we should have been looking to make since we came down.
I’d love this kid here. Delap and Fletch rotating up front with Campbell, Doughty and Clarke competing for the two wide positions....great stuff.

Sure someone quoted Liam saying he would not like to be at the same club as his dad. Might be wrong though. i thought that as well or was it just something someone assumed on here/? Sure for the good of Stoke City they could both deal with it with regards to a loan spell if an agreement could be reached. I've worked with my dad before as my boss as I'm sure others have too, it's abit strange but definitely do'able & you soon get used to it. Bjani & Mr G made it work just fine. Plus Rory's about 3rd or 4th in the pecking order anyway as regards to the management/coaching staff so sure for a while they could work together under that set up. Rory being a manager of a club wanting his son I can kind of get a bit more with regards to footy terms. He'll have strong links with both clubs for various reasons whilst growing up, suppose it could come down to if Rorys happy to get him on board for abit with us aswell as who Man City are keen to see him progressing with. We havent a great record of loan signings in the last season or so. Also I guess it could come down to who Is more likely to be competing near the top of the table & likely to give him some good developmental vibes while on loan, that could be a key factor too to both Delap & Man City too.

We're talking a possible loan, not an outright purchase. Might that, l wonder, soften Liam's reluctance to play under Rory? (And it wouldn't really be 'under Rory', anyway, would it).
And anyway, if it were a cast iron no no, we wouldn't even be enquiring, would we?

I’d hope we are looking at Morgan Rogers. Currently on loan at Lincoln and tearing it up.

He was in Derby's academy when Rory was coaching there. Not sure if that experience lead to him not wanting to work with dad.

It's always been my understanding that it was more Rory not wanting to coach Liam rather than the other way round, from a perfectly understandable (maybe commendable) desire not to interfere and smother the lad and his development. I'd swear I've read a direct quote from Rory to that effect but can't find anything on the old Google machine.
Anyway if there's any chance of doing it I'd hope it could be worked round. Liam looks like a beast of a forward - very Haaland-esque (with the apt parallel of also having a decent but more limited midfielder father)

It’d be devestating if he went to Derby and tore it up. Can you imagine a 4 of ..................Delap................... Clarke.......Powell...Campbell

There would be something somewhat poetic if Delap Jr was to fire us to promotion 14 years after Delap Snr.

The decision will ultimately lie with Manchester City
If they feel it’s more beneficial to them and the player that he will progress better at Derby County/Bournemouth or wherever that’s where he will go
It’s that simple

For sure it's "doable", but if both parties feel uncomfortable, then it's a no can do. I suppose in days gone by the managers at either club would just have told them to go ahead and do it, but nowadays it's more a case of each person being asked if they would fancy it, and if they don't, then that's the end of it.
