Watford's top scorer last season got 13 and 2nd top scorer 9 = 91 points West Brom promoted the season before top scorer 11, 2nd top scorer 10 so it is possible....though generally the majority of teams promoted have a player who scores 15+ Interesting stats. Rarely a player gets 25 plus as a post showed the other day. Only Toney, Pukki Mitrovic and Abrahams managed it in the last 5 seasons Cardiff also got promoted with top scorer on 10 goals. It seems to be as as common for teams to get promoted with a leading scorer with less than a dozen, as for a team with a player getting 25+ if that makes sense!

Someone called Campbell a 30 goal striker when on average 1 player a decade does it.

If you think Ty is better than Delap your deluded. One has just signed a five year deal with the current Prem champs and the other plays for us. Let that sink in. You have no idea whether Delap will cut it or not as a regular first teamer in the Premier. His reputation is such that you would think he will, but he’s got no form at all in the professional game- yet! It could be he’s Lionel Messi mark 2 - he may sink without trace, you really don’t know, you just assume. Ditto for Ty?

Delap named in the Man City squad lists will increase their homegrown quota aswell if that's still a thing.. I definitely don't think that this matter is over just yet, Peps just trying to deflect the attention off Liam for abit. Even if we don't manage to get him now, the Winter window is still a distinct possibility depending on Man City & our Cirqs come the new year. If it is we don't get him I'd much prefer him staying put than another club grabbing him & potentially playing against us anyway. He doesn’t count as home grown for them yet.

So whether he is homegrown or not doesn't matter - it doesn't matter for any of the under 21 players. It does for Europe though. He’d need to be named as 1 of the 25 in their squad.

We used to get this in the Prem, people would say “we need a 20-goal-a-season forward”.. complete dreamland for anyone outside the top six, and not that likely even for them. In the Champo it’s more feasible but still a hell of an ask. I think some people still use the third division in the early 90s as a reference point.

There is a logic that says Ty is better currently, or at least, of more use
Delap has huge potential, but he might not display that in competitive football straight away.
And also, the fact that he has signed a five year deal, as we know, means a lot less these days. At worst it’s a big club stockpiling decent prospects, at best it’s because they genuinely believe he could be a world class player.

Liam delap has potential and will go out on loan somewhere, as he cannot get into man City match day squad, however I think we are OK up front with fletch, Sam, brown and ty to come back imo these players have earned the right to play if we were to sign Liam it would push one of these out and I don't think it's right. It is clear that we have a good squad with all the players buying into what we are trying to achieve.

I guess the solution would be to move Powell up and bring in Sawyers.

If he were to lose his place to a loanee, it's difficult to assess what the impact of that would be, but it could be the worst thing for him and us right now. One thing is for sure, we are not going to find a player with more work rate and commitment than him. Playing regularly is the only way Surridge is going to develop too.

I don't believe a word that Pep says. Usually during his interviews he never answers a question directly & starts waffling on about something else! He was trying to say Man City only spent £40million on Grealish a few weeks back & that they wouldn't of been able to afford to sign him if they'd had to spend £100mil! WTF?! At the same time as Man City were eyeing up a fee of over £100mil for Harry Kane 🤔 ! Whatever Pep..
He was going off point following a question after their match at the weekend saying something along the lines of Gabriel Jesus's parents will be proud of him! Totally out of context..

Can someone explain why this thread is still open I guess because nothing's certain until 31st Aug and threads only tend to get closed if they've gone particularly venomous anyway?

Pep's maths were based on HIS reckoning of the cash raked IN being nigh on £60m therefore they only had to put another £40m to get Grealish! - whether you believe him or not..............

Quite right for anyone to score 20+ goals for a non Top 6 Prem club they'd have to rack up 50% of their teams total goals, it's a huge ask.

Ty has done it in the Championship,Delap is a kid and a slower one too! Totally agree. We need to calm down thinking an u23 team striker is going to be our saviour and smash the championship for 20+ goals. Delap looks good. Has potential. Can score goals in u23 league....but he is untested week in week out against hardened championship centre backs. He is not going to spearhead our attack to glory week in week out.. remember people were crying out for a young ty Campbell to be given a shot..his first game v Leicester and Morgan made him look like a little boy lost completely unready for the first team..and it has taken 2 or 3 seasons of different length spells of 1st team games to get ty to the level he is at now..it could well take young delap the same. He may manage 3 or 4 games then may need 3 or 4 games rest to physically and mentally adapt to first team football..calm down with the delap love in he's a young lad just starting out in his career....there's no guarantee he can do it on a wet Wednesday night in Stoke.😉

Yeah I heard him bumbling on about that, but as the presenter on Sky Sports alluded to, Pep was mentioning the £60mil income but forgot to mention they'd made signings in the financial year he was referring to! & how can they be actively sniffing around the Kane with £100mil+ price tag that Levy has placed on his head?! I saw that interview with Pep as a way of him getting a defence in early before financial reports are published & Man City's accounts & finances come under scrutiny again! To kind of soften the blow & suspicions that are bound to pointed towards them after a very costly window for them! Not that it really matters as Man City seem to have the FFP system manipulated to their way & needs anyway!
