He’s a shithouse wind-up merchant ..... which is exactly why we should sign him. This - we are too nice, we need a bit of devilment in the side. He'll never get the credit - mainly because he's horrible to watch and horrible to play against - but a lot of Man City's success is down to the (mainly dodgy) contribution of Fernandinho. I'm not suggesting Arter is in the same class but someone with more than a passing acquaintance with the dark arts would be quite handy.

I think this is an area where we spend a good chunk of our budget. If we are going to persist with Shawcross because of his wage next to Batth, then I believe a young more mobile DM is required. I would like to see a young more annoying version like Pearson from Preston. Wound me up to fuck in both fixtures this season. A genuine in your face merchant!

Good shout, Pearson feels like a better fit for the holding role. Assuming we're able to keep Etebo and Allen it would leave us a little short in midfield especially if we're playing Clucas in there who's a complete shit arse in the air.

Another over 30 bruiser in the Eddie Clamp mould...surely we MUST do better than this. We need pace, youth and players fighting for places not players on their way down.. I thought NJ got that? Eddie Clamp , what a 'nutter' back in the Vic 10 minutse after kick off!

I just can’t see where he fits? Unless someone else is going? We need a squad I would hazard a guess we have the biggest squad in the league, if it was down to numbers we’d have walked the league. The fact we have 2 central midfielders who’re refusing/we’re refusing to play on big bucks shouldn’t be overlooked in this decision from the club. Chuck on to the pile we also have Geoff Cameron we’re paying. Is harry arter better than Clucas, Allen or Etebo? Entertaining the idea of signing him while looking at the players we have on the books is ridiculous.

Totally agree - the one thing lacking from our sides over the last 2/3 seasons apart from any cohesion, desire and hunger is that we are way too soft and we lack any menace - teams can bully us.

Eddie Clamp is just the type of player we need.
As is Maurice Setters.
We need to become more aggressive as a team.

Amusing that anyone thinks Arter is some kind of hard man enforcer. He's an absolute shithouse coward.

If NJ is looking at Harry as a DM, I think there are better options out there (e.g. Adam Clayton). Even for the midfield diamond sure, Harry's a tenacious, sniping tackler and he's proven at Championship level... but that was 5 years ago. He's had a lean couple of years and did OK at Cardiff (albeit unspectacular). Again, I think there are better - Richard Smallwood of Blackburn, who's a great tackler, dribbler and a decent ball player too.

For years now stoke have had a team of players who are only half arsed, scared to get in the oppositions faces and straight up don’t stoke fear into any teams we play. Since the Harry Archer interest I’ve realised many people don’t want him because he’s a “cheat” which was the same I remember for Ben Pearson , and it just made me wonder why fans don’t want a team full of absolute shithouses who get in face places, ever now and then put a dirty unneeded tackle in and are up for a fight? I’d honestly take 11 Harry Archers and Ben Pearson’s right now and am just wondering why so many wouldn’t?
