Watching their play off game v Eastleigh,1-1 at the moment but this Salford thing just looks and feels so false. It really does look like a project not a sporting achievement. Can't really engage with them at all.

Final starts in 25 minutes,BT Sports.Rooney out injured.I know Wembley is a great venue and all the prestige that goes with it but surely this fixture should have been played somewhere in the North West area with the two clubs competing. Can't imagine there is going to be a big crowd today. Going for 1-2 to Fylde.

I'm the opposite. Ever since I watched the TV series I've been engaged and still keep an eye on their results and progress every single week. Yes, they've got massive investment and can draw on the extensive contacts from the various owners. Yes, all of that gives them a pretty good edge over all their competitors at the same level. Having said all that, still a great story and an easy one to get on board with.

D Rowe to score for Fylde.
His non league record is ridiculous.

It's pretty obvious surely,ex players buy a low level football club,a tv series is made about it and they get multiple promotions in a short period of time to reach the football league. It's the stuff of fairy tales 3-0 now, game over

Wow, Salford City in the league. I know they're not everyone's cup of tea but a great achievement, even allowing for the finances.
With Graham Alexander in charge, I can see a very swift promotion to League One and then it's anyone's guess where they go.

You genuinely don't know what makes it a great story? You throw millions at any non-league club they will get promotions I would have thought a great story has a certain element of surprise. I'm not trying to be funny but everyone knew this was going to happen. Other non-league teams can't live with their finances. Bit like the League and Man City but more extreme. It's a great story for their 150 fans though.

Doesn't detract from it being a great story though. I'm not calling it a fairytale, or a story of the underdog prevailing. It's still a great story nonetheless and one that I've enjoyed following over recent years.
