Will be interesting to see where he ends up next. I imagine we’ll be coming up against him next season.

I'll always remember his penalty against Brighton. At the time I was seething but quite bizarrely, over time I've grown to laugh at it, a lot.
We were crap last season with all of them playing their fair part and if you are going down, you might aswell do it in slapstick style.
Sorry Charlie, but it does make me laugh (now).

Said with class and dignity. A good pro and the youngsters would have benefited from his wealth of knowledge on all things football. A manager in the making me thinks. All the very best for the future.

Just a bit sad about this.
He could be awesome, he could be very good, or he could be more than a bit iffy, but he was never, ever dull, and he would always make things happen.
I'm glad we had Charlie at our club. Hope he does well wherever he ends up.

Will be interesting to see where he ends up next. I imagine we’ll be coming up against him next season. I would imagine Blackpool or back to Scotland. I suppose Blackpool IS a possibility now that the Oystons have departed. But it depends if he is prepared to take the inevitable drop in wages a move to Blackpool FC would mean. Maybe a combined player/coach role would suit him (is he doing his badges?) but even that would mean less pay than he could earn elsewhere - although I suppose he could combine player/coach with some media work.

I openly admit, I've been a critic of Charlie on here a lot, but I don't think anyone can deny at all, he was a 'DNA' player. A full blooded club player who could have some absolutely amazing moments, and have some royal stinkers cough *brighton* cough.
I'm sad to see him go.
As for Fletcher and Haugaaed, ermmm, not so much.
Were these ones all out of contract? Certainly the three easiest to let go if Jones wants to start the clear out.

What a real, real shame, one of my favourite players and woefully under-utilised the last 2 seasons, I’d hoped he’d play a major part next year. One of the few players to play like he gave a fuck.
All the best Charlie, best of luck in all you do.

Charlie Adam. Thank you.
As a club we have to move on and I wish you all the best. I’m a little bit sad tonight- another one gone from such a fantastic era. As a Stoke fan, I wonder when we will see those times again.
Cheers Charlie

So that means no further members of our senior squad have been pressurised into having their contracts terminated or have offered to do so, in the best interests of themselves. So we reap little financial gain from freeing Haugaard's wages, which were minimal, Adam's which were average, and Fletcher's which were befitting a former Fergie fledgling.
In other words, as things stand, Jones can sign a keeper on low wages or promote Bursik or another from within.
Regarding wages he can sign 2-3 younger players, but as there has been no income to the transfer budget, he can only sign those on a free or maybe one on a nominal fee.
That is of course unless he has been promised a GR-like transfer kitty from the Coates family. While I would obviously like to see good players come into the club, and the Lord knows they are needed, I would rather our manager worked on a shoestring than on as much money as you please. Both Rowett, at other clubs, and Hughes, did very well in the transfer market when money was scarce, but when big pockets were waved in front of them they both lost the plot. I've already seen Jones lose the plot in terms of pr statements, team selections, and tactics, so I'm not holding my breath as to whether he really has transfer acumen.

Charlie, the original thunderbastard. He’s been a good signing, hope he goes somewhere where he gets plenty of games.

Very sorry to see Charlie leave. He scored some great goals, and was always a gutsy player who could also pick a pass. Pity about his Brighton penalty. I will remember him fondly for his tackle (assault) on Sanchez I wish him well for the future. All the best Charlie and thanks !

I doubt he will earn as much money in the rest of his life as he's made over the past 7 years. True - but my point was that he could still command higher footballing wages than Blackpool can afford. Given that he still lives in the area, it would not surprise me if he went there - possibly to a player/coach role with an agreement to continue his media work.

Maybe you should check his career stats...it might surprise you. I am glad we had Charlie and I have enjoyed watching him much more than the current crop of untalented charlatans. Good luck charlie...one of the good guys.

Adam was great value at £4m for sure. Definitely needed to leave, mind. It’s been at least two years overdue.
Fletcher and Haugaard were horrendous signings, all things considered.
Good to see Jones starting the clear out early.

Some great memories. For me this was the best. Good luck to seemingly a strange breed these days, a player who just fucking loves football. Will live longer in the memory than a lot of players from the past decade or so.

Quality player when given time on the ball. Problem is now he needs too much time.
Wish him well has been a model pro but not part of where we're heading.
