It'll be the manager's call in the end though - just as it always is. At 32 there's no reason why he should be physically shot. Maybe a return to this environment with the goalie coach who got him to that level could be good for him if it happens? He’s not going to get any better at his age though, he’s only going to get worse. Everyone on here has bemoaned the fact we sign over the hill players on big money that haven’t achieved much. Yet because Bego was good for us in the past everyone seems to have suddenly forgotten what they’ve spent all season moaning about. People need to take off the rose tinted specs for a minute. How can you say he’s not going to get any better? Look at Grant. A bang average 3rd choice keeper at Derby. Came to us aged 32 and turned into a quality Premier League keeper. As long as he’s on a sensible wage Bego would be a no brainier.

We need to be planning for worst case scenario, signing a keeper on mega wages (for the champ) isn't the way to do it, looking for the next Butland is what we should be doing, also those saying he's a nice guy good pro etc, didn't he refuse to play once?

Perhaps we think we’ve already got those young upcoming keepers here and just need an old head for a couple of years until they come through. Both as it happens current England Internationals.

I agree... our future looks healthy... The only concern I have is that Bego left with a bitterness which was quelled because we had a shiny star in Jack. And he did refuse to play for us once.... and got a bit antsy at the end. Would Andy Quy accept him so readily?

Surely there's a more bank friendly option, Im guessing obviously but the wages could be a bit stupid for a champ keeper.

I really don't want us to sign him. That ship has sailed. There must be lots of younger keepers out there with potential who would be much cheaper.

Well, the journo who claims he's leaving this summer interviewed him yesterday, so probably knows what happening from the horse's mouth?
Whether he'll turn up here, who knows? Wouldn't be surprised.

Doesn’t strike me as a Jones kind of signing. Maybe the board might push this on him? Can’t imagine that happening though.
Nailed on for Butland to go Bournemouth though.

I'd much rather we had a fresh start everywhere in the club this summer. We need hunger and desire in every position.

We have no idea if he would consider us, if Butland is going there (personally think he'd be crazy but his choice if it happens) but he is a great keeper despite poor form of late. De Gea having a mare of a month but it happens

I have a chosen ( adopted ) multi disabled son. Who having seen Begovic in goal for us took his ball down the park and stood in goal ,joined in for the first time with a group of local children. Begovic turned my son life around . would I live to see him back at stoke then a grateful yes. Should Asmir choose a different club then all the best to him As great as that was/is for your son, and rightly anyone who proves to be a positive role model should be applauded, there is absolutely no room for sentiment in sport I'm afraid to say.

God no, how long until he spits his dummy out and refuses to play again if he does sign, we're meant to be getting away from these types of players.

People dissing a likely Begovic return need to get their head out the clouds. We're now a mediocre Championship club who unfortunately can't pick off the youngest or best talent that's out there anymore. A move to Stoke would rejuvenate Begovic In my opinion & it could be classed as a coup to get a keeper of this quality back in our current predicament. I agree that football shouldn't be about sentiment, but that aside an experienced Premier League keeper whose clearly available in the summer & just happened to play for us previously is likely to sign, that's no bad thing.
