There are plenty of keepers that wouldn't have saved that Charlton goal. We expect Jack to because hes proved how good he is. He hasn't been at his best but dropping him? When the alternatives are Federici and Davies? Maybe it's time to give some support to a player who has earned it and play our part in helping him get back to his best? Dave please that shot at Charlton was straight at him I've seen Sunday league pissed up keepers make better efforts. May be that’s the answer Frank Mountford’s tot of whisky at 2-45 after all the only real trophy winning team we have swore by it , frank apparently drank the rest .

It went right through him mate, come on. We aren’t where we are because of ‘luck’. I like Jones and I still think he might do well for us but making excuses doesn’t help anyone. Well it's not all down to bad luck, we have had our own opportunities to score and we haven't taken them. I do wear rose tinted glasses you know. And very fetching they are too. 😉

I think a lot of the problem with Jack is people remember the season after we sold Begovic through to when he broke his ankle he was, at times, simply breathtaking.
Unfortunately that raised expectation levels which he hasn’t met since.

Dave please that shot at Charlton was straight at him I've seen Sunday league pissed up keepers make better efforts. I assume you’ve seen it from smack behind the ball and know exactly how much it swerved and what view Jack had of it? Excuse making mate he's England's number one!! It was within arms distance and he just flopped on his arse reactions of a sloth. That's his job duck he moved out of the way.

Dave please that shot at Charlton was straight at him I've seen Sunday league pissed up keepers make better efforts. It came from behind a defender who turned his back and it deflected slightly as well. Absolutely he should have saved it. He'd have expected to save it and was probably gutted with himself that he didn't. No arguments from me. There would have been plenty of keepers who wouldn't have saved that though. I've not seen the deflection you mention and your right plenty would not have saved it and they are playing in the Ansells league not for or not atm England. If it were Pickford I'm positive the stick would be vitriolic on here.

Butland has been poor to date this season and I don't know why people are trying to sugar coat it, deflect from it or dance round it. He needs to up his game starting from today. He didn't come out of the relegation season with much credit for me either.
We can't have a situation where the team is creating chances but we are going a goal behind in every game because of a goalkeeping error, and that goalkeeper error going unpunished. It wouldn't happen anywhere else on the pitch and it isn't happening in the dugout either - the manager was rinsed last week for the Woods substitution, is rinsed on a weekly basis from some quarters and other players are reamed on a weekly basis for errors.
Sorry, but you can't have that situation at all.
Let's hope he and we start the turnaround today.

I just think it’s embarrassing and shameful that Jack feels compelled to justify himself in that way following criticism from keyboard warriors on the internet. Some cockwomble on here was even suggesting he was playing shit on purpose to force a move. That’s nothing short of a disgraceful slur against one of the very few players who appears to actually care about the club and has behaved in nothing less than a totally professional manner at all times. Yes he’s made two bad mistakes which have probably cost us the points and I’m sure he knows that himself and doesn’t need telling it by the Ten Men on here and other social media. As supporters what we should be doing is getting behind him and helping him to build his confidence back up because that’s all he’s lacking. He hasn’t suddenly lost his ability as he showed at the end of last season. Instead of making snidey ‘pissed up’ remarks let’s acknowledge the mistakes and try and support him and the team. After all isn’t that what most of us pay a lot of money to do?

Am I dreaming it or was Butland not very very good for most of last season? He single handedly earnt us a lot of points and I shudder to think how badly 18/19 might’ve been had we sold him and ended up with a clown in goal.
He was largely excellent and more than earnt himself his move. With that in mind I’m willing to give him a lot more time to play himself back into form. If the things I say are true, then it would be understandable that maybe his mentality isn’t quite where it needs to be, but hopefully he’s sorted himself out and he’ll re-cement his place in the coming weeks, starting today. Derby are a good side so no doubt we’ll need Butland to have his moments if we’re to get the result we’re all hoping for.

I don't think Jack would deny that he has made a couple of mistakes in the first two matches. I believe his main problem is that he is thinking too much about his play and whether out not he will stay in the England squad. He is obviously a bright lad with a good brain as seen when he gives interview. But that means he dwells on matters I think. What he needs to do if he can is to shut off everything else and rely on his training and simply go out and be a goalkeeper. i do not think I have explained myself too well but basically he has two stop thinking everything through and go out and do what comes naturally to him - and that is being a top class keeper. Perhaps easier said than done.Give me a thick player anytime who worries about nothing - on or two come to mind.

Your right the problem is keepers make mistakes and it's a goal most get away with it in open play. Every player on here is criticised at some point and Jack is no different, now IF he really was that good now ask yourself why nobody has snapped him up? Yes he is a good keeper and can do good things but at the moment his form is shocking and he's prone to giving goals away a top top keeper can't do that. I hope he does well the same with all the players but if he were an outfield player this board would be apoplectic with calls for him being dropped. For me i would drop him because he can't seem to get it together and he's costing us dear. 2 games two goals any other player would be hounded out of the team. Jesus! Benik was hounded out for not scoring enough where was his support and love on here.

Let's be honest here. Jack is without doubt the best keeper at the club by that famous country mile. Last season he didn't play especially well before Christmas, but I thought he did very well overall after Christmas. This season he hasn't started very well, and I think he should have stopped Leicester's second goal against us, QPR's first and Charlton's first. I also think Jack really knows this and will address it, but he now must have his focus on Stoke and nothing else. Only a fantastic season will give him Premiership games again, hopefully that will be with us.

And you’re so hormonal your post doesn’t make any sense. You’re all over the place. You accuse me of making baseless assumptions about you (whether you rate Jack or not) but then make an equally baseless assumption about me supporting Pugsley in his criticism of Davies who I have only ever seen play once in my life and therefore don’t feel qualified to comment. I also didn’t mention Joe because it was a thread about Jack. Odd that. By the way did you like Jack’s assist for the goal? Mind you he should have saved the penalty shouldn’t he?
