“Doesn’t seem to do so much”.......”It must be something to do with running about a lot” No dig at you numpty because your post reflects similar comments on the Oatcake I believe, without checking that his automatic 1st choice appearances under four different managers since he signed would suggest that professional footballing managers and coach’s see, and value his contribution more than us guys sitting in the stands. IMHO JA is/would be core to us being successful Quite agree owd, we all see things differently, those 4 managers that see something in Allen don't see anything in Bojan. Just plain weird this football stuff when you consider where we are now thanks to those managers. I understand you’re point of view. Our problem was recruitment (the wrong character players) and the squad/team balance. In response to you’re comment about Bojan I’m firmly in the camp that although he may be a great guy it’s time for all parties to move on and remember the good times and look to the future

From where I sit (in Block 15) if you asked Allen to play the Bojan role he wouldn't have the tricks and skips but he would make a fist of it. If you asked Bojan to play the Allen role he'd be blowing out of his backside in 15 minutes and would be hooked at half time. That's the relative values to the squad. I would also hazard a guess that if both are sold this summer Allen will command a cosidersbly higher fee.

If he goes, it will 100% be to a Premier League club.
That alone tells you all you need to know.
We have to hope he stays.
I'm sure he could have moved 12 months ago if he really wanted to.
He showed loyalty and wanted to have a crack at getting us back. Ndiaye downed tools and then fucked off.
I think I know who I want in our team next season.

Joe leaving will be a travesty and will be a bigger issue to solve than all the haters of him have an answer for.
As soon as he’s gone the noise will be we should never have let him go.
Hughes’s usage of him in the number 10 role was a poor decision but he performed well in that role, the goal at old trafford was something else. That usage though lost his identity and people now expect something more from him.
He’s fundamentally a battling midfielder that we need more than anything.

That makes no sense at all. If he could buy better means he didn’t want Allen.

There’s better midfielders in this league than Joe Allen. He has a few decent games a season I don’t see what people see in him. Etebo s better by a mile. Also he’s a crowd shusher like Clucas. Can’t stand that

Without doubt one of the most odd players I've seen for Stoke. Always in your top 3 players of the season, but had caused more questions than provided answers and genuinely looks to have made us worse. Because “we” as supporters mainly see what happens “on” the ball rather what happens “off” the ball. How many players over over the years have posters dismissed prior to signing, slagged off during their contract and been proved completely wrong. Recent samples being Whelan, Walters etc. Ironically I would say it's his "off" the ball positioning sense that has cost us mostly, rather than what he does when he is either "on" the ball or playing in a disciplined 3 where he isnt tear arsing around the pitch. Joe has had some excellent games but for me this is when he has been much more controlled and disciplined in front of the back 4. Unfortunately these games are few and far between. Each to their own though, Joe Allen always sparks an emotional reaction on here. Top 3 players of the season - Yes Have we improved at any point with him - No

Three full seasons at the club and has played in every league game. Not bad for someone who runs around aimlessly and who can be constantly drawn out of position. Apply for a coaching role at the club, surely you could enhance his game where others have failed.

If only we'd fucked him off sooner we'd have been more 'balanced' and no doubt top 10 in the Premier League.

When according to the Oatcake, our worst player (McClean) gets more assists in less games than the greatest player since Sir Stan (Allen)
Tells you all you need to know about his quality. That said he plays a mean sideways pass and how he gracefully gets knocked off the ball is elegant.
The epitome of a Stoke fans favourite, runs around a lot, has zero tactical nous and offers very little both ends of the pitch.
Sooner he fucks off along with a few others the better, we can then hopefully get a proper defensive midfielder who actually has a clue on how to play that role along with a proper attacking midfielder who knows how to pass a ball forward.
Our midfield has been wank for the last few years, they've offered zero protection for the defence and zero support for the attack, absolutely no presence on the pitch any of them and teams generally cut through the middle with ease. He's been a mainstay in that midfield, he's as much to blame for this mess as anyone else.

I find it mind blowing that people can go to Stoke's matches and come up with the conclusions some of the Allen negativity people come up with. This player has consistently been our best player since he has arrived. Never has he downed his tools because of our decline or the attitudes of our poorer squad members. His attitude has been tremendous. Yes there may have been times when his size has worked against him but there are far more times when he has made tackles, won headers and regained possession for us. Open your eyes if we are fortunate enough to retain his services.

He’s just not a very good footballer.

In truth I don’t really know what Allen does, as a guess I’d have to say jack of all trades and a master of none but I don’t really think he’s that good, certainly not a stand out player.
Anything over £12,000,000 I’d let him go in a flash

What is 'the Allen role'. He's a defensive mid but he's never really played there for us. A big reason for our decline has been Joe Allen being played as our main creative attacking threat. You'll see when he's gone..... That's hardly conclusive is it, for what we class as a 'big player' for us and this league on a big contract has he been head & shoulders above others? Has he been the same player for us that the commentators were praising well he was playing for Wales? I don't think so, maybe it's the imbalance in the team whilst playing for scfc in I don't know but for a so called decent premiership player (an honest one) I expect more . It's hard to dislike him, he (to me) seems more embarrassed about how shit we are more than the others, hes an honest player but if that's what we are judging a player by then I suspect we will get a fair few of them come in over the summer. So what is allen adding on an in game basis that makes him worth north of 15m?
