His move to Leicester was probably the biggest slice of luck ever to befall a player! What a great bloke and he can look back on his career and point to a medal that very few have got! As honest as the day is long and part of our own story. Good luck Robert. and luck for a club ! Didnt he get a title medal with Chelsea as well ? He got two with Chelsea I believe.

I lived in a shared house in stoke back when Huth was still playing for us, and a German guy in there was surprised when he saw Huth in the sentinel as he knew of Huth but was unaware he played for Stoke. The German guy pronounced his name "hoot" rather than "hoo-th" so maybe we've all been getting it wrong all this time. You have. No, I'm not a German teacher, but my mother is German.

I noticed when Stoke twitter did that ‘6 aside’ thing, the majority of players who’d played with both Shawcross and Huth chose Huth over Shawcross. I would have thought more would have Ryan over Huth, but goes to show what others thought of him. Not to mention Crouchys little comment about him in his book when he left. Old school, quality defender Huth carried Ryan for a good spell of their Stoke careers together. In my opinion.

If one of the two was injured, I always thought that we looked more solid if Ryan was playing rather than Huth.

RE popular players becoming coaches for us, forget a former player who came to us on the back of having a sex tape leaked, and falling over a dog in a nightclub etc. I think we could all get behind Huthy. Hard as nails and was about as much fun as you could have watching a defender. If he was going to take a ball cleanly you'd sometimes see him slow down to make sure he could have a bit of man as well. Fairly sure he slowed down to get a bit of the ball ‘as well’.

I think his sense of humour is absolutely brilliant.
Comes across as a lad who has really enjoyed & appreciated his career.
His interview at the player of the season awards while half cut was priceless. Any message for the fans Robert?
“Go on holiday, drink lots of beer & shag women” or words to that effect.

I absolutely detested the cynical git before he joined us.
It’s a different kettle of fish when he’s playing for your club though, he’s one of my favourite Stoke players ever, a master of the dark arts of defending.
Enjoy your retirement sir.

I got a bit confused after reading that really! What was the conclusion, Maclin or Maclein/Maclain?

They were a superb partnership for us but I always thought Huth was the better centre half of the two.

and luck for a club ! Didnt he get a title medal with Chelsea as well ? I think so, I remember after a game where he might have (if you looked at it in low light from a funny angle) stamped on Suarez, he was getting dogs abuse on twitter from Liverpool fans and he goaded them with the fact he has more premier league medals than Gerrard (one at the time). No funny angle was needed, most football fans apart from the bindippers thought it was a great stamp on a piece of shit

Still can't understand why we let him go Ah well, spilt milk and all that He was suffering from regular knee injuries, the wrong side of 30 and we were playing really well without him, so it was always gonna be difficult for him to get back into the side. He just so happened to have another couple of seasons in him and one of those happened to be the freak of nature that was Leicester in 2015/16. I don't think losing Huth was a mistake at all in the long run. Pffft you can prove anything with facts 😁👍

I got a bit confused after reading that really! What was the conclusion, Maclin or Maclein/Maclain? Yeah, James tends to have that impact on people. It's the actress namesake pronounciation, i.e. as in Shirley McLaine. Oh dear, oh dear, maybe he will be called Shirley from now on...

Ryan was not the same player.

I'd kill for a young version of the man in our squad at the moment. Absolute psychopath, still miss him as if it was yesterday.

He is quoted as saying that, whilst the Leicester dressing room was good, the Stoke dressing room under Pulis was the best he had ever been in...I think a fair amount of that was down to the man himself and the likes of Walters, Shawcross and Whelan Proper grown men enjoying their work!

Huth carried Ryan for a good spell of their Stoke careers together. In my opinion. Rubbish! Just a great partnership In my opinion, when Huth partnered Ryan under Tony Pulis' management he was the dominant centre half in what was a superb partnership and there was a period between 2010 and 2011 where Huth definitely carried Ryan through a bit of a sticky spell in an otherwise exemplary Stoke career.
