I remember being suicidal when Lou left for Celtic I feel for them Scariest place I've ever been since my first trip to Julian's dungeon Never seen so many people in a town stare you out as you pass Love The ground tho, with its alley way entrance and coffee bar in the top of the stand π€£

Nick Owen doesnβt look a happy bunny on Midlands Today. As the late Windsor Davies would say βOh dear, how sad, nevermindβ Iβm sure I read somewhere recently that he was still alive?

I remember watching Luton Ladies getting beaten by Mossley Hill Ladies about 6 or 7 years ago (in the Women's FA Cup). The man got them up a division. They need to get over it.

Christ they're really bitter in the set-up at Luton aren't they.
There's not an ounce of professionalism in the senior ranks there based on how they've gone about this. Let's remember that in football the compensation for a manager is agreed well in advance and the club has an awful lot of leeway. Considering how quickly it moved as well, there must not really have been much haggling over finer details by Jones with Luton in terms of any money he could potentially be owed under X/Y/Z. Let's not also forget that we approached them before and they told us the fee, we didn't by all accounts go down the backhanded route of finding it out before we made our approach and being "Hello Luton, here is our suspiciously accurate X amount of compensation offer for Nathan Jones"
I mean people have thrown some shit the Coates way recently, but Luton have a chairman and director who really are just pandering to the fans expectations to keep them onside and speaking positively about them. It's all fine and good when things are going well and money is getting put into the club, remember when Vale were on the up under Smurthwaite and he was seemingly a great guy.
If they truly cared that much they could've just said "If we match their offer, will you stay?" instead they decided to be tight fucks with the money and be all bitter. I could understand it a bit more were it a Sol Campbell figure, someone who had premier league football during their career at a time when it was paying well but he's probably picking up more a week now as our manager than he ever did as a player.
It's hard to find exact figures, but some suggestions that the average Luton player will be picking up Β£2,500 per week, and players are usually on more than the manager. There's every possibility that given his low beginnings with Luton Jones was probably on a wage akin to something like Β£50k per year. A great wage in reality but a pittance in football, and Stoke could have bumped that up to Β£500k+ easily.
Luton really do seem to forget that they absolutely had the option of trying to keep Jones by matching what we offered. If you really think that highly of an employee in any line of work you are willing to pay it to keep them at your company. If they truly believed that Jones could see them to the premier league long term then they were utter morons not to offer him whatever it was we were offering.

Perhaps they did offer what we offered, but Jones decided to jump ship in any case.
