His formation requires wing back type full backs but only 2 centre backs. Our centre backs would be hung out to dry with marauding fullbacks Get that AC and he has one FB for that in Tom. He might try Clucas at LB also? Given that he won't be getting these two new athletic, pacy, CB's anytime soon (& if we can find / afford them), I doubt he'd want to wait a month or so to get something in place - so won't he just say to AW / BMI / RS (at a push) "this is how I am playing you, get on with it"?
If they can't hack it, we'll all know (if we don't already) and they won't be surprised when two new ones walk into Clayton Wood. I'd say Bauer fits his tactics more than Edwards.... Clucas is a possibility at left back, given I believe he's played there before and is quite athletic

I reckon BMI will flourish under him after clearly having his wings clipped by Rowett - once his confidence is back he will be one of the best CH's in this league.

I'm a Brighton fan and just wanted to say that you have got a great bloke as new SCFC manager ! He took over from Hyppia when BHA were in pretty dire straits and won his two games in charge before Hughton was appointed. He remained as first team coach until he left to take up at Luton. I don't think you will find anyone here with a bad word to say about him as he is totally enthusiastic and likes to play attacking football. I hear you say that there aren't the players to play attacking but he will turn it around if given a reasonable amount of time. In the meantime, I am certain he will plug the holes. Good Luck SCFC and Nathan ! Thanks, but he didnt win them both, the home game v Reading was a 2-2 draw.

He's played more as a centre forward but no-one's suggesting we play him there!

To my mind, our two most likely candidates for Jones' full back positions are Clucas and Bauer, with Edwards and Tymon as back up. If Jones plays his full backs more as wing backs, that is not so far removed from the left midfield/wing role that Clucas has played the most in his career.
It is the centre of defence which worries me far more. I presume, if the full backs are asked to push up so much, we will need far more athleticism and mobility in the middle than at present, as well as a player at the base of the diamond who is willing to drop back and cover (like Eric Dier does for Spurs/England). For now, Bruno gets the nod surely, as the youngest and most mobile of our current triumvirate, and maybe Williams as the most comfortable on the ball. Even Pieters may be an option, as he is no slouch and is not ideal for the full back role, so could be repurposed.

I also believe we bought Clucas precisely because 1. he was cheap due to his injury and 2. because of his utility as above - and not with a specific position in mind. Some still say he's best as a DM.

I can see Pieters being repurposed as a CB like you suggest, but I see clucas playing the Dier role simply due to his height and physicality over woods, although woods is probably better suited but isnt big enough imo. Can see Bauer LB and Edwards RB tomorrow .

Long time ago now and I stand corrected however, at that time, even a draw felt like a win He mentioned it in his recent podcast or press conference When I posted I had not seen the PC and don't listen to podcasts. My post came from being a BHA fan at the time and it was easy to remember he only had a couple of games. Like many others though not unhappy for the Chris Hughton appointment, wished that Nathan could have had a bit longer.

We're on the wrong thread here chaps but ...
Will Bauer be anywhere near fit enough for a start ?
Indeed, has he even been playing as opposed to training to be able to start?
