Percy was Hughes’ stooge. He can fuck off.
ROWETT OUT! Would be a great start in removing a contributor to any kind of toxic atmosphere, throwing player after player under the bus whilst oozing the type of arrogance normally associated with far, far better managers.
ROWETT OUT will show us, the fans, that we are different than the last time they pontificated whilst Rome burnt. It would show that lessons really have been learned!
Not sacking him and instead choosing to amble on, with the potential damage that this cretin could cause in the January Window, would prove to us that the rot does indeed run VERY deep and that nothing was learned from the last 12 months!

Clearly not going to plan ( if there is one) . The Coates Jnr , Cartwright influence seems greater but I imagine the biggest worries are financial given how much has been wasted on players not good enough . No evidence but heard we are paying half of Williams contract estimated to be £60k a week , the wage bill must be frightening.

I would argue that things have gone downhill since Peter has had less influence on things.

Did our demise start when Cartwright and co. came in? TP seemed to be very annoyed by this happening. Maybe it also was the main reason why things started to go the wrong way for TP at Stoke, he certainly didn't seem pleased with working with this new gang.

Not only have we got to get back up, we'll play the whipping boys for another 5 years "If" we stay there until we class ourselves as a mid table club again. At best we'll end up a yo yo club imo because We won't invest the sufficient amount upon promotion

I have my own thoughts which I’ve posted previously. It’s all hypothetical whether or not it was time for TP to move on, we’ll never know (please don’t anyone resurrect a Pulis thread again) The undeniable fact is that the employment and involvement of Cartwright as a stooge for Scholes has seen the implementation of a recruitment policy/process that has been a significant factor in the delivery of “sustainability”...... in the Championship to-date.

I think its fairly obvious that the long term slide started with the Coates Jnr, Scholes and Cartwright meddling in signings and football matters. With the exception of a couple of years where the chancers got the recruitment somewhat right, its been pretty much a disaster.

Tony has been phased out over the past 18 months and it's pretty obvious by the way the club has declined significantly. We are greatly missing his charisma and the huge influence he had in our 9th placed finishes in the Premier League.

Problems are that Peter still calls the shots. All the family have shares in the club and John was supposedly the one to take charge of the club but they all still answer to Peter. He just won’t let go. John isn’t the fondest of Cartwright or Scholes however Peter is a stubborn loyal sod. Wheres your proof of this??

With man Utd, Gary Neville said that Woodward should just take care of the financial side and bring in the best football technical director they can.
Citeh did it well before pep arrived, bringing in all his Barcelona cronies to deal will all the recruitment.
Why aren't we bringing in the best football technical director we can? The best man for the job.

Things went well under Hughes to start with and only £5m was spent on Pieters, Muni, Arni, Ireland, and Odemwingie. The second season Hughes spent virtually nothing buying players; Bardsley, Diouf, and Sidwell were all free transfer (excluding signing on fees) and Bojan and Tex were on minor undisclosed fees. It was 2015 when Hughes signed a shed load (11) of players, pushing the wage bill through the roof, including Shaq for £12m. We now know we only get Shaq on condition he could leave for £12m. Out of that 11 signed all bar Johnson and Shaq were dud signings. January 2016 we went over the cliff, signing Imbula for £18.3m. So actually the " season or two in the sun" were at minimal expense. It was Hughes 3rd season that matters spiraled out of control.

Piecing together everything:- - Coates runs the ship, but is arrogant and become increasingly deluded (evidenced by stunning comments over past 1-2 years) - Cartwright and Scholes are the yes men; bag carriers and fall guys. (or why else would 2 of such low calibre and devastating failure keep their jobs?) - Coates became bitter at player power/ the modern game. He saw prima donnas bought for fortunes and fail. He saw Stoke thrashed too often. Eventually Highes paid - New managers scouted. O'Neill said, "you need a total overhaul, your squad is poor and player choice dysfunctional. I'd need control." Lambert said, "whatever you want boss, I'll do it. Your players are great already." - Lambert installed a bit of pride. Relegation came. The shock caused entrenchment. There were "lessons learned". But not that the culture was archaic, that the top management didn't have the expertis.... -.... but rather we were buying the wrong sort of player. Those who didn't try. Fancy foreigners on big wage packets who didn't give a toss: Jese, ECM, Wimmer, et al - We need a proven earthly manager. Someone who will fit the Stoke way. Someone Coates is comfortable with; man's man. Coates said, "this is the direction we are going in now son: You onboard." Rowett said, "yes Gov". - "And im not bloody well chucking everything away that i've spent. There's a player in Berahinho. Bring him out. " Rowett said, "erm, yes Gov... i'll need help though." Coates replied, "Whatever. Just do it" - We bought (and kept) our loyal triers: Shawx, Fletcher, Joined by Etobo, Woods, Clucas, Maclean - A dash of creative flair added: Afobe and Ince. - We didn't do business early, cos that's how you get stung. Always getting stung, are Stoke. That had to stop. - We don't go near loans for those pretty boys like Abrahm or Barnes. Fancy dan idea. Young bucks above their station, paid too much. Cost too much. We need to be prudent now. Triers, Gary. Triers. - 10 games in - post Wigan perhaps. "Gary, I don't care what you do, but the defeats need to stop. I'm stick of seeing us concede 3 goals a game. That's why you were brought. I want effort and discipline.". Gary: "yes boss". - Entrenchment. Discipline. Stubborness. Drop top scorer. Play Berahinho. Hang on to narrow wins. - Paddle like fury to stay afloat. Lots of splashing. Its ugly. But at least we are afloat. - But from a few fans who saw it early, most grow to see it. - That's much the sum of what they are going to get now. Splashing. Chest beating rhetoric. Arms flailing to keep afloat somewhere in the middle. And that's where we are. I do believe everyone is trying. Cool story, needs more dragons

I think we should bring TP in as technical director tbh. Its absolutely laughable that these jokers are still here spearheading a new era. That in itself tells us all we need to know about the running of the club

Often times it felt like the players were 2 year plans, but the nature of the premier league meant they were signing 5 year deals. It wasn't always the case, but it was reaching the point where the club couldn't really afford to be spending £20m a season on players who irrespective of age and prospects could be marginalised in 2 years time. Ironically, we then went on to start spending around £20m a season on players who irrespective of age and prospects end up marginalised in 2 years time.

Well if you look at the official partnerships that the club can boast I think you can judge for yourself ! A tile wholesaler, A minor player in the sportswear industry, The local University and a bunch of solicitors based in Cheshire ! Inspirational.

Absolutely, the thing with pulis was though once we were established when he did tend to spend money it was money well spent. Of course we had to sign a few make weights along the away immediately following promotion but filling the squad was necessary, we also struggled to attract the right quality so we ended up with the soares & olifinjana's etc. Along the way he plucked bargains from nowhere aswell, time & time again. People could argue we wasted 8m on palacios but Crouch has covered that whole fee himself with his contribution since signing, the 3 following managers have all valued him.

Decreased gates equals loss of incoming revenue, How have we gone from established global partnerships to basically the corner shop ? How are we supposed to show that we are a viable self sufficient company with the loss of TV revenue and the loss of income from advertising ? This is a more serious matter than the present on field disaster, but fortunately for some has this helped to mask the absolute disaster that awaits us ?

Just some outside perspective on your signings this year (Derby fan).
McClean was a player that Rowett wanted at Derby last season but we couldn't afford him. Ince didn't want to leave and to be fair Rowett didn't want to lose him, calling him the 'best technician at the club' but made the decision to sell him because Rowett felt he could replace him with a 'better' and cheaper option in Tom Lawrence. However, it's interesting that he went back for Ince and not his 'better. option Tom Lawrence. When Stoke signed Afobe it seemed like Rowett had finally landed his perfect lone centre-forward that fitted his style of play. Indeed Afobe is an upgrade on Donaldson at Brum and Cameron Jerome at Derby (1.5m wasted) I think apart from the young Nigerian (good player) the rest of your signings seem nailed on Rowett players.
It would appear therefore that Rowett did have a big say (or identified) the players that arrived at your club this summer. It does seem (to an outsider) that your board have backed their manager to the hilt?

Any football club that retains the man in charge of recruitment after 47 million pounds of wasted cash on three players (not including X millons on wages - another 15 million?) has a problem.
He maybe your mate, but come on Jon - is it worth destroying Stoke City for that?
Grow a pair.
