Blinkin' eck, Chuff............. gutsy, though, or what? Have you now got to do a double-shift of hospital visits for check-ups? One day you, the next day papa? Remember Storm wotsit, before the recent one called Gareth? (F.....F......F........ Fiona, perhaps???? Can't remember)...... Anyway, remember that one? Blew the whole roof clean off the shed where Mellors keeps all his tools, etc. ----- Guess what - Mr Surf was all set to get on the roof to try to put it back, the daft bat. I said to him "Crispin, if you even attempt to get on the roof I'll knock you right off again and then break both your legs myself." He got the message and I rang the people who'd originally supplied it about 15 years ago and they popped right over and did the necessary. - Otherwise, Chuff, you and I might have been regularly meeting for Afternoon Tea in the North Staffs attendants' cafeteria round about now….. PS: Having said that, it's just occurred to me that Crispy's got to go back to the stripy place tomorrow for a check-up on his broken hand following their X-raying it last week. It's all GO, innit…… Wotz this ? Mr Surf has broken his hand ? How did he manage that murph ? You weren't being careless with the baseball bat again were you murph ? I hear he was trying to sneakily open a bottle of Tanqueray whilst Murph was supervising the shed roof repairs. Doctors were at a loss to explain the hammer-shaped indentations on the knuckles. Or the teeth marks on his nose.

Good luck with your recovery mate. There ain’t no fun in getting older, but the alternative isn’t much better. Oh, thank you Cheery Charlie Bluddy Chester! You’re only a young ‘un Murph. Being in my late 30’s (ish) I think of anyone younger as a “yooouf”.

You couldn't make this up. At A & E with my 92 year old dad who fell off the shed roof on Saturday. Barmy. Hope he’s ok Chuffed. My old man at same age tripped over the back door entrance whilst carrying his car battery from the car to kitchen to charge it. Unfortunately with independence comes higher risk as we get older. We'll be there one day mate. Quite true. It seems I've got a particularly stubborn guy to look after. He's almost tethered to the lathe in his shed/workshop.

No, no, Crispin is certainly allowed - and indeed positively encouraged - to familiarise himself with the impressive CM wine cellars and knows how to pour a perfect G&T plus other assorted refreshers - after all, Parker does have a half-day off every other month and I always insist that he takes it. It's actually been in his contract of employment ever since his family 'joined' (as it were) mine just after Mafeking, and we've always liked to be generous with all the staff.

Ah, but there's pouring for her ladyship and surreptitiously sneaking a swig from the bottle himself. If Mrs Q and I imbibed the same things, there would be trouble. Fortunately, I can take or leave gin and she won't touch whisky.
Your gernerosity to your staff is legendary, Murph. I've heard tell you even put the cattle prod away every 6th Sunday in February.

Update on the duodenal cancer..... review today hopefully to be discharged from surgical unit. Eventually had 4 sessions in hospital including post op infections. Start 6 months of chemo treatment 18th June. Desperately trying to put on some of the 23lbs I lost. Catch 22 because I’m also walking couple of miles a day trying to build up wasted leg muscles. Any advice on that little dilemma very welcome!

As far as the leg muscle thing is concerned I was advised (this was ages ago) to attach a 2lb bag of sugar to your foot, sit upright and do three sets of ten reps on each leg three times a day. It actually worked.!!.
