We should be all over Caulker. Even if only on a short term deal to prove himself. If he go’s to any other club in our league, and it seems teams are interested, i guarantee him being a success. We probably arent even aware that he’s available. does Caulher not have some mental issues at the moment ,perhaps he isn't ready play yet He’ll fit right in then

Assuming Rowett isn't sacked and he needs to turn the back four around, then he might need some more personnel. I hope Souttar is given a chance and he takes it. If not, here are our choices until January: Right Backs:Glen Johnson Jesus Gamez Michel Dennis Diekmeier Left Backs:Carlinhos Florian Marange Centre Backs:
James Collins Papy Djilibodji Diego Polenta Phillip Wollscheid Robert Huth Frickson Erazo Russell Martin Florentin Pogba Serdar Tasci Georgios Koutroubis Chris Samba Sebastien Bassong if your serious you want sectioning lol Serious about what?

I'd give Huth a chance too, he was better than any of them when fit but that's another story! The operative word being “was”. He would have been picked up by now if he still had it.

Glen Johnson Phillip Wollscheid Robert Huth Florentin Pogba Chris Samba Sebastien Bassong not one of them are worth a contract even has a stop gap Exactly. All I said was that these are the options. I never said they were viable options did I? It makes a certain point and that point is that either way we are potentially stuffed until January, so the manager has to tread carefully in what he does and says.

Get one, two or all three of them in. We have a midfield and strike force to really compete, and a goalkeeper good enough to play in the top flight. The defence is our problem. Ryan has been an unbelievable servant to stoke. A legend in fact, and I don’t say that word lightly. But he’s off the boil, maybe not permanently but he needs a break - so it’s time to replace him for now. One of the freebies could be a new Gerry Taggart or Robert Huth (literally) to stop the rot. Maybe. Just maybe we could even try and keep a clean sheet. As unbelievable as that might sound (I know we did vs Hull and Huddersfield). Ryan can’t play 90 minutes every game, he’s good enough but whether it’s confidence or injuries catching up with him - give him a breather and bring in some steel. Huth and Morgan won the premier league because they’re a brick wall - heading, kicking and tackling all day long. Very British defending - we need to do that, so bring in some old heads to Marshall the defence. Get that right. And we get it right. I sat at a table in the Waddington Suite last season with a gentleman who had an interesting perspective on why Huth left. If he’s right (and I have no reason to doubt him), Huth is never coming back to Stoke. Yet he did pre season with Stoke ?

www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/gary-rowett-press-conference-stoke-2040227Are you interested in any free agents?Rowett: It’s something we’d consider but I’m not sure that signing someone who hasn’t played for three months is the solution. I believe we’ve got the players in the building to sort the problem out. I think players can improve performances and we can do more work to help them improve performances. That’s the main focus, to find the right balance and consistency in our game to give the forwards a chance. Conceding silly goals has let us down as a team.

Coates needs to be called out on this, his recruitment team, having had a terrible run of big signings not making the grade have now given us a substandard selection of defenders. We have the money, but clearly the 'process' is all wrong and it needs to change quickly.

Strange comment when you consider that he signed a midfielder for 7 million quid in August who he must have known would not be available until at least November (Clucas).

I guess it's more that any free agent might be deemed a quick fix, whereas Clucas is for the longer term.

Rowett said on the website there’s no point taking a free agent, who not has played or trained for months because they won’t be ready until January.

I don't think now it the time to be criticising anyone on that list given our paucity of options at centre half or left back. Certainly not one that played a huge part in a depleted back line that got us to 9th in the Premier League. Looking back, the signs were there weren't they? Shawcross and Butland out, we finished 9th in the Premier League and got to within a whisker of a Cup final. It seems we didn't miss them as much as we thought. What has happened since should surely cement that thought. Wolly is out of work for a very good reason, he is crap. He is not the answer! He’s also a total prick.
