I'd get Caulker, he's got his issues but it means we could give him a short contract probably and he's quite quick if nothing else. What issues does he have? I see he's a free player at 26 which means he's definitely fucked up somewhere down the line, just wondering where it went wrong for him? He was a real bright talent a few years ago. Depression I believe

We have nursed players in the past back to a positive place in their life, Ethers definitely being one of them. We can do the same for Caulker and see some of the talent he showed when he was a youngster. I'd go for this full throttle, absolutely no questions asked.

Get one, two or all three of them in. We have a midfield and strike force to really compete, and a goalkeeper good enough to play in the top flight. The defence is our problem. Ryan has been an unbelievable servant to stoke. A legend in fact, and I don’t say that word lightly. But he’s off the boil, maybe not permanently but he needs a break - so it’s time to replace him for now. One of the freebies could be a new Gerry Taggart or Robert Huth (literally) to stop the rot. Maybe. Just maybe we could even try and keep a clean sheet. As unbelievable as that might sound (I know we did vs Hull and Huddersfield). Ryan can’t play 90 minutes every game, he’s good enough but whether it’s confidence or injuries catching up with him - give him a breather and bring in some steel. Huth and Morgan won the premier league because they’re a brick wall - heading, kicking and tackling all day long. Very British defending - we need to do that, so bring in some old heads to Marshall the defence. Get that right. And we get it right. Neither Huth or Collins would add anything and I don't know what Caulker's current situation is so unless GR feels it is serious enough to risk throwing one of the young lads in we are stuck with 2 out of Ryan, BMI and Williams.

I understand he has had some serious personal issues which explain the lack of a club, I have no idea of the detail and how serious and whether that would exclude him as an option? Do you?

We need a quick centre half
They don't even have to be that good .
Chris Smalling gets a game for man utd , because he is not man utd class , but he is quick .
It is pretty much certain , they are not going to be good and quick , and come to Stoke
Any centre half , that is good and quick , is out of our price range
We need a sort of stoke equivalent of Chris Smalling , some who is quick and okay...ish
Two centre half's off the pace ( which is where we are now ) is asking for trouble
If we go with two sluggish centre half's every week , every championship team , will target us there , in every game , and it's going to be a long hard season .

Apparently he is being linked with a move to Ukraine, as he triggered a release clause in his contract with Dundee he presumably already had some irons in the fire.

Ipswich manager Paul Hurst has pretty much indicated that Collins will be signing for somebody else at 9.21 on this video. Surely for Stoke www.twtd.co.uk/livecam/52

Surely for Stoke www.twtd.co.uk/livecam/52I really hope so....always rated Collins, and even at 35 he's still better (and more experienced) than what we've got at the moment!!! Plus, if "HE" himself reckons he's still capable of doing a job in the Prem, who are we to argue in the Championship!!!

Last season he couldn't command a regular place in a poor West Ham defence and how is he more experienced than Shawcross or Williams? I don't see anything to be gained in signing another veteran.

It will mean that the club will have another Blue Badge for parking, this will be available on match days from the ticket office but must be returned the following day. This is a valuable stream of income for the club so try not to Park on the grass verges, Roads marked with yellow lines are permitted.

Give some of our youth/ U23 a chance !!!! When, in our history, has our academy ever been the answer? Wilko, Dicko, Commons - all ok - but it’s definitely not the answer in a critical season. Soutter is the only one showing any promise, but he’s not better than Ryan or Indi. Not by a long shot.

I would go in totally the opposite direction and get in one or two younger centre halfs
Liam Moore at reading is quick and okay...ish
Jake Cooper at Millwall is good , very good in the air ( better than shawcross) and although not super fast , is still quicker and more mobile than shawcross

I’d sooner we let the Collins we already have have a crack before we decide we need another veteran.

Just been for a few pints hence the delay in responding, Ashley Williams has 80 caps so that trumps the 50+ for Collins. You need to give up on this one and realise sometimes you just need to stop digging!

Okay, other than Williams (although I wasn't originally taking him into account), I'd still say Collins was better and had more experience than what we already have.... He's just better than Williams then!!! That's my opinion, and I'd like him here!!!

The Ginger Pele was still doing a job in the Premier League last year and the vast majority of our fans wanted him to get a new contract
easily be one of the better defenders in that league even at his age
