I was just about to post this! He has to be. He’s proving himself at a big club in one of the best leagues in the world. Yeah - I read somewhere that they wanted to keep that special Foden-Sancho-Hudson-Odoi u17 World Cup generation together through the age groups, rather than rushing them. But when you're ready, you're ready - and it's clear he is. Just hope Foden and Hudson-Odoi don't end up in the traditional vortex that 18-23 year-olds at big clubs end up in. Yeah that would be mental given that currently he’s probsbly the most productive English winger playing in a good top flight league. He’s got to be picked soon. Yeah me too, they’re both very good players and need more game time now.

Its all about getting up and down the pitch and your" Engine" and physicality..The art, skill, guile are very much secondary. The likes of our own George Eastham for instance wouldn't have got a sniff in todays game. That’s not true. The game was much more physical in Waddo’s time. Eastham, Conroy et al had to learn to play against complete cloggers like Norman Hunter, Jack Charlton, Billy Bremner and Johnnie Giles and that was just one team. They jumped over them. Every team had at least one hatchet man - the worst of them all was Peter Storey (Arsenal). The opening sentence in Storey’s Wiki write up says something to the effect Peter Storey was a criminal and former English footballer. What he did on and off the pitch were criminal. And don’t get me started on Chopper Harris (Chelsea).

The point was given he wasn't a physically intimidating, up and down the pitch type of player would he in todays game been given the opportunity... I doubt it.

Still some real creative talent emerging in the age-group teams. The future's definitely brighter - it's just a question of them getting the game time. The Foden/Sancho/Hudson-Odoi U19 generation have just smashed Holland 4-1 and Belgium 2-1 this week, and England u17 are currently playing in a mini tournament in Poland. Beat Norway 6-0 on Friday, and 3-1 up v Belgium in the final after half an hour Goal and assist for Sancho again tonight.

I look forward to a bright future then
I think if these players can get contracts with European teams then we are ok because our top teams will not play them.

FullerMagic another assist tonight. This time in the champions league. Not sure how long they'll leaave it before chucking him in the senior squad. The thinking seems to be he'll only be in the u21s tomorrow! Harvey Barnes looks one to watch too... son of former Stoke legend Paul...

Sancho has to get in the first team squad. Surely Southgate can't complain about lack of opportunities for young English talent, and then overlook somebody who has been brave enough to take the leap abroad. And on the back of that, get plenty of game time and perform really well. What message does that send out?

Even when we did produce these flair players we didn't use them much anyway. Hudson, Currie, Marsh, Bowles and Worthington won less than 50 caps between them. Apart from Hudson none of the mavericks made much impression for England. Because apart from Hudson none of them were actually good enough to do so. They looked classy in the league but at international level different things are required and despite the rich talent English football used to belittle the notion of adaptability. The early to mid 70s was the start of English players getting left behind and the insularity of the game exacerbated the decline. And how many of that list have an old First Division winners medal? Only Barnes I think. That list is of players who didn’t achieve huge amounts

Only 1 team can win the League in a Season and Leeds and Liverpool dominated in the 70s Alec Lindsay won loads of medals in the 70s....so on that basis should have been first choice left back for England for all those years he was successful? Imho Mike Pejic was a far better left back but never won a medal apart from the League Cup. Peter Storey got quite a few caps on the back of being successful at club level but his ability as an international player is very questionable. On that basis Gordon Banks would have hardly got a look in either and Bobby Moore didn't win that much at club level.

Going overseas and embracing a different way of life helped his game too. Unfortunately his peak was between world cups.

U19s have beaten Portugal 4-1 away, with Stoke's Josef Bursik in goal.

Another 2 goals for Sancho in the Bundesliga yesterday, in addition to a goal midweek in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid.
This lad looks the real deal.
Makes you wonder how much Foden is restricting his progress by being at Man City and getting next to no game time.
