Clucas, Woods, Williams all to come back, what's the best 11 based on today's improved performance?

Butland Bauer Shawcross Martins Indi Martina Woods Etebo Ince Bojan New LW Berahino As good as his nice touches have been on the halfway line, do you really think Berahino will pose more of a goal threat than Afobe?

I’m not really sure what to make of Afobe so far to be honest. I thought he was a sort of rich man’s Akinbiyi, all pace and power, but so far he seems more of a poacher - great instincts but doesn’t do much else. I think your striker has to do more in terms of interplay. Maybe we’ll see more of that from Afobe as he gets sharper.

I think he's shown enough so far, he stuck one away nicely on Wednesday even if he was offside, and he's the only one who looks a threat in behind. Goals are like gold dust and I don't think we can suddenly start thinking Berahino doing well in a number 10 role with some clever play means he will suddenly come good right up top. It's a different kettle of fish. He's so far shown literally nothing inside the box, but Afobe very nearly scored again today straight after coming on. I think those forwards will probably be getting a fair bit of rotation, which is probably about right for now from what I've seen.

It’s all very precarious with Berahino as you never know if he’ll go off the rails again, but I’d like to at least have a look at it as he looks a lot more mobile than Afobe to me thus far.

I'd be happy with Bojan behind Berahino, or Beharino behind Afobe, either one, so long as we don't revert to 433 to accommodate all three midfielders, resulting in just one man on his own up top.

The general gist I'm getting tonight from you is that you don't want to see us play 433. To be fair, although Rowett made a comment about Woods allowing the likes of Allen and Etebo to play further forwards, which initially sounded like he was promoting a 433, straight away afterwards he said Woods would also be good in a 2, so I'm not sure what he'll do yet.

I'm certain it will be 433 Para because he wont be able to drop Allen. I do hope he'll stick with 4321, with Woods, Etebo and a number 10 but I expect to be disappointed.

Butland Bauer Indi Williams Clucas Woods Allen Etebo Ince Saido Afobe
Although harsh to drop McClean.
Would have to go 433
...,.,..................Butland Bauer......Indi.......Williams.....Clucas ........Woods........Allen....Etebo .....Ince........Afobe........ Saido
Width would have to come from the full backs.
Massive selection headache now we've signed Woods.

Hard to get much of a read on where he sees the formation in his post-match interview. It is hard to see us going into any game without Allen, Woods or Etebo.
"Ryan's a terrific signing. He'll allow the likes of Etebo and Allen to play further forward sometimes. I thought what you saw today was that we can play with a two - and he can also play in that two because he's a player that's very hungry and wants to do well. It's a fantastic opportunity for him and he only lives 20 minutes away, and it's a fantastic opportunity for us to bring in a really good player"

He can play with Allen and Etebo - indicating a 3 in midfield - but then goes on to say ‘we’ve shown we can play with a two, and that he can play in that two’. I actually wouldn’t mind that midfield 3, but we don’t really have the players to play the front roles and the full-backs to make it a success. Hope yet that he’ll stick with 4231 (and NOT play Joe as a #10 please!)?
