Was never overly keen on Rowett and I can't see how anyone can defended him after tonight, shocking management and is clearly out of his depth. The singing of "You don't know what you're doing" sums of my feeling towards the bloke.

Dunna worry. He'll be managing Stoke at the level of his competence soon enough at this rate.

Moyes has to come in. Don't you think it's more like the ambition shown by the owners is so small we deserve him? Arnautovic was right, I believed him at the time and he remains correct in his assessment of the club. Btw you're right about Moyes, I reckon, but there's no way he'll come here.

His football is garbage. Right from the John Beck top drawer.
Is he missing his trusty sidekick, Summerfield? Is his new approach of split coaches coaching different parts of the team failing?
Do the players want to play for him?

It doesn’t look promising. There is no cohesive thought process that I can see in our attacking play and the defensive work is simply chaotic. Having said that some our senior players are absolutely shocking and no new manager deserves the performances they are churning out.

The job of cleansing the place from top to toe, shipping out the deadwood and turning habitual losers into winners is the job for a clever, experienced manager. He’s made a complete fuck up of it.

Replacing Lambert with him was a very strange decision. Got to get rid this week or it will be too late. Totally out of his depth,

I didn't want him in January, I didn't want him in May and I certainly don't want him now.
He's a piss poor lower league manager who's got ideas above his station.
He just makes it up as he goes along. A complete charlatan.

Alls not well with the players, a bust up in the tunnel at half time apparently, and that's from someone that works there.

Said it before the season, he's a mid table manager and Stoke will do nothing with him in charge. Cut your losses now.
Moyes is a deluded prat who still thinks he should be in the Champions League. No way he'll go to Stoke.

Clearly this is the case. Hopefully the 'football' people at the club will realise this, swallow their pride and fuck him and his half witted, no nothing, won nothing coaches off. Moyes has to come in. I'm asking myself the same question tonight. I was so certain we would turn it around tonight, but we were absolutely shocking. We started the game quite well and bossed the game for half an hour, but after conceding we showed no backbone and totally colapsed as a team. I must say Rowett's team selections so far are very questionable and some players aren't really up for it at all! Fletcher: Loses the ball over and over again and isn't mobile enough to cover enough space. He has become dreadfully slow and to me it really is unbelievable how Rowett can avoid seeing this. Fletcher is not the answer, he is PAST it! I also think he makes Allen look worse than he actually is, but also for Allen it seems like the simplest of passes is almost impossible to make right at the moment. McClean: What a donkey of a footballer! Hardly able to get a cross in during a game, but he is also dreadful defensively. I'm still shocked Rowett has been chasing this player for so long! what does he see that nobody else can!? Edwards: Has his good spells and looks quite comfortable on the ball, but unfortunately he doesn't look ready yet. Makes too many costly mistakes and needs to be replaced ASAP. Pieters: Despite scoring in the last game he also makes way too many costly mistakes and needs to be replaced ASAP. Afobe: If he is selected we need to play to his strengths! He is NOT a target man, but he is fast and able to put the ball in the onion bag if given the chance. Williams: One of the least professional performances I've seen from a Stoke player in a long time. Was decent in his two first games, but tonight he didn't seem able to pick a pass or make a decision right. I'm very disappointed with Rowett so far I must admit. I really though he was able to install some backbone and steel to the team, but so far he doesn't look to have a clue at all to be honest. I really hope he can turn it around quite quickly or I think we need to go looking for another solution. I've hardly ever felt more down about the team than I do right now.

He deserves some criticism no doubt but when you’ve got the likes of Shawcross, Allen, Pieters and Fletcher, all players he’s inherited playing like that then there’s he’s on a hiding to nothing even before you bring his own bad decisions into it.

Don't forget that £40m+ has been spent since relegation and what have we got to show for it? A total shambles. Lambert managed to get this lot organised but Rowett can't. The guy is a fraud and totally out of his depth. He needs to be shown the door.

No way he'll go to Stoke. If David Moyes thinks he could manage a champions league team then he needs sectioning. Would I have him? Yep. Would he come? Probably not. I know it's only 4 games in but by fucking god Rowett looks out of his depth. Williams kept on when at the point of the booking was a red card waiting to happen. Just fucking take him off, out Souttar on to stop him getting suspended ffs. It's fucking simple stuff and Rowett couldn't even see that. Abysmal does not begin to describe the start to the season.

I was at the Leeds game, the home game to Brentford, watched Preston away online, and tonight I eventually managed to get the laptop / stream to work properly after we were 2-0 down. So I missed the apparent positive start and Afobe's ruled out effort. The performance I did get to see tonight was abysmal, but in keeping with a very poor and concerning start to the season overall. I was angry and worried when I saw the team selection tonight, but hoped that Rowett would be proved right. Sadly that was not the case.
I understand why people on this messageboard are questioning Rowett's capabilities. The team selections give ammunition to that view. But I think anyone coming into Stoke this season would initially struggle. We have a number of players that are in need of being replaced, there needs to be a full scale rebuilding of key areas of the team and that will take time. Given a shortage in certain areas (e.g. central defence) Rowett's hands are tied to a degree. I also think that given Rowett's previous experience and results in the Championship to suggest he is not up to the job, and should be removed already is way too premature. It might be that we lower expectations for this season and accept it as rebuilding period as part a longer project to produce a team that can get promoted back to the Premiership.
For whatever reason there seems to be a lack of confidence which is causing players to rush simple things, miss simple passes, and far too often go backwards so the defenders or Butland have to resort to humping long aimless balls back up the pitch. McClean has been a disappointment, and has become some fans favourite player to lambast, but to a degree he's not been given a huge amount of decent service - stray passes in congested areas, or hopeless punts down the channels to chase. The whole midfield could do with a prolonged period of keeping possession, moving the ball around with short accurate passes, and patiently trying to work some openings rather than the hurried "ridding themselves of a hot potato" approach that is putting us under pressure, and starving the forwards of any decent service. I think we also need to start with Bojan so there is someone with creativity to link up with the striker(s).
I used to like Pieters when he first came but he's long been a liability with the silly fouls and poor positional awareness. Although a Stoke hero, Shawcross sadly has had it and a long term replacement is needed, but given Williams dismissal we'll be having to rely on Shawcross a bit longer. I wouldn't have dropped Bauer for Edwards, and Fletcher is another one whose time is up. I think Allen is struggling because of the issues with the other players around him, and is not being utilised correctly. But I'd keep faith with him at the moment for a little longer. I don't know how close Souttar is to meriting a regular first team place, but he's young and 6' 6" so hopefully the sort of player who is part of the rebuilding for the future. Surely he's worth a try given our shaky defence.
So the problem doesn't lie entirely with Rowett. And I think given the deep rooted issues it will take a bit of time to turn things around. However I don't think this automatically means he's not up for the job, the like of Moyes mentioned above would equally struggle with the squad we have because several must be shipped out to make some room. Rowett knows the Championship, and he should be able to produce a team that can be vying for promotion. It won't happen over night, and it might take longer than some of us would like. Remember the Macari side that won promotion as champions in 1992/3 with 93 points had just 7 points after the first 7 games. I'm not putting myself out there as some huge Rowett fan, far from it and there is some justifiable criticism. I just don't think we should be calling for his head after 4 games.
If I was him for the Hull game I'd replace Pieters with Martina, bring back Bauer for Edwards, replace Fletcher with Etebo, give Souttar a start in the back four, start with Bojan, and get Allen to play the role of sitting in front of the defence to give a bit of protection, break up the opponents' moves, and try to bring into play our other midfielders with simple passes.
