Stoke were obviously talking about an overhaul of the playing squad and I agree there is still time for that to happen. And I think people are perfectly entitled to discuss that overhaul, based on what they're seeing in the preseason games, as no doubt Rowett and his team will be doing also. You don't have to keep telling me people are entitled to discuss things on here I've been a member since day one I get how it works I think we'll probably end up signing another couple permanently and then maybe using the loan market for another couple later on in August. A similar number will go the opposite way, anyone expecting more than that I think will be very disappointed...... I think four will be the absolute bare minimum, or else we'll all ultimately end up being very disappointed.

Before today i was thinking 3 in 3 out, now I am hoping it is far more like 5 in and 5 out. 3 in the next week and 2 loans after that - both ways. Can they be loans with a view to a permanent deal in January? That seems like one way to manipulate the new system.

Three in three out would be a good start and the right signings would give us a fighting chance.
Five and five is probably unrealistic.

I don't think we'll see much much in the way of incomings unless we manage to offload 2 or 3 off the wage bill.
I really can't see the board sanctioning any more strikers or midfielders until we lose a Berahinho or an Adam or Cameron for example.

Sat in my hostel room after a fair days drinking. What a great weekend. St Pauli fans were absolutely brilliant as were our lot. They absolutely fucking loved us as well. Their lads loved the fact we were joining in with Song 2 by blur after they scored. Think away fans not giving a fuck is a new concept to them haha. Really good guys though and I tell you what, Stokes away support remains one of the very best imo. Superb.

When looking for the forward pass from midfield to a stoke player in space only Charlie Adam seems capable. We all know his legs have gone - sad to say. We need a midfielder that can find a killer pass. At one point in the second half Diouf was rolling off the shoulder of the last man but the ball went sideways and the chance to put Diouf into acres of space to run at the goal before blazing wide was missed.
The pressing game evident v Hamburg was not there and this is the way Rowett wants them to play. On the evidence of (albeit this friendly) when this tactic is not employed we are still last year’s team that can’t defend and can’t make chances. Players to be bedded in McLean looked good, Etebo will beChampuonship player of the season and injured players to come back next week and further signings hopefully - need cover at centre back and wing (Diouf will only get game time out here not up front).
I feel it will take a few weeks to get us clicking (like 92-93)

St Pauli was every bit like imagined it to be - they are now my German team.
If you every get chance go and enjoy the experience I hope they go and stuff Hamburg next season.

I saw them setting up the stage before the match with the lad playing violin. We stayed in the ground for at least half an hour after then about 40 of us walked out the ground after singing that E I E I Oh chant and the St Pauli fans all started recording it on their phones. They were coming over shaking our hands and saying we're the best fans they've ever seen. Makes you wonder what German away support is like; I always thought very very good. These Germany trips though are superb. Cologne, Hamburg x2, Leipzig. All brilliant. Hopefully there will be another next year.
