Let's hope he can be rehabilitated after nearly two years of no confidence, no game time, too much time, money and bestial "urges" 😁
Could prove to be our best signing this season? 🤔 I live in hope 😬

Same for me slate wiped clean for the new season and realsitically what else could the club do based on his recent track record both on and off the pitch who on earth was going to take him off our hands. I’m sorry but how can you wipe his slate clean? £70k a week for two seasons, no goals, drugs and whores and now we are in The Championship... He’s made a mockery of Stoke City and his own career. And so what would you do?

I think you are misunderstanding the position. You will find very few Stokies who are happy with the purchase price and wages of Berahino or his behaviour off the pitch and certainly not with his performances since we signed him. But, if the club are satisfied that legally they cannot cancel his contract (and I am sure they will have looked into that) then the ONLY option left to them is to try to get the most out of Berahino for the remaining time left on his contract, if no other club wants him and is willing to pay a significant amount of his contracted wages. Unless another club will do that then our club HAVE to make every effort to get him to a point where he can contribute goals for the first team. If Kevin Phillips or any of the coaching staff can achieve that then great - if not then we will have to grin and bear the loss of £70K per week in wages for him until his contract runs out.

While he is still a Stoke player I will back him and support him. Far from happy with the way he’s handled things but this season is the first where i’ve seen a bit of desire from him..looks in good shape, got a smile on his face, team mates and coaches backing him and saying nothing but good things, got a good finish in the friendly (the fact it’s a friendly changes nothing you still have to put the chance away and he did so very clinically). I would love him to succeed and prove everyone wrong. All we can do is give him the chance..and NOT write him off after the first game like most on here seem to love doing

I am expecting a repeat from the sages on here who have suggested that Berahino should be given a run of 12 consecutive games to 'cure' him of all his baggage. It remains one of the most ridiculous suggestions on a board often noted for ridiculous suggestions. The only good news for me about Saido is that with the addition of Afobe his much needed contribution is less critical than it was last season and with the addition of another decent striking option his services wouldn't even be needed as part of the match day squad. Even without the additional striker I would sooner see 2 of Crouch Diouf Bojan or Campbell on the bench than this waster.

Berahino needs to be given every opportunity in pre-season to show the appitite and ability to play a role in the campaign, if he does great he is in the side or at least on the bench if not tell him to stay at home and accept the hit on the wage bill. I have a feeling he will play a role this season although whether he every does enough to justify his fee and past wages is another issue altogether.

Good plan. Let's get on his back and ensure we have to pay him while he sits out his contract. No one is going to pay him 70k a week so we are stuck with him May as well be pragmatic and pray he comes good.

Is this a joke! A man under no pressure in front of goal and a goalie who is not even trying. Maybe keV as told the goalie it to try to build is confidence. That is Haugaard doing his absolute best! In seriousness though, those crosses were coming in with some pace, it's not an easy skill to get your head over them and keep em down. The last header was a great finish. Cheer up - he could be missing them all, as he would have done last season. It is Bursik in goal, so if you're reading Jakob, my sincere apologies. Thought Bursik was better than that, to be honest.

I don’t think so. Eat the wages (tax loss?) and send him home like Lambert did with Afellay (whatever that was about). Berahino is a poison pill, a morale-destroyer, once a spoiled brat, always a spoiled brat. You let people see what he routinely gets away with without consequences and you run the huge risk of at least some of yhem thinking “why the fuck am I killing myself?” He’s one of, If not the main reason we got relegated.

Eat the wages + £12m transfer fee- very easy to say when you've not forked out for it. That would be absolutely insane for the club to do. If we released him another Championship side(at least) would take a gamble on him, if he scored ONE GOAL people like you would be all over this board moaning about our inept transfer policy.

Likewise, there is no defender, but it still shows Saido has the skills, if he can rediscover the heart and desire, allied to an appropriate level of fitness, to score goals at our level.

we`ve simply got to give him one more chance to get back to where he once was. we paid a lot of money for him, he`s apparently one of our top earners and he`s got 3 years left on his contract. it`s what they now call a `no brainer`.
to give up on him now would be akin to just accepting that your previously `dirty` wife has suddenly turned celibate while still young, but still expects to be showered with gifts a plenty and taken on lavish holidays twice a year ;-)

Berahino has three years left on his deal?
What if he doesn’t score this year, is caught shagging around and we end up in League one?
Move the waster on and give the kids a chance. He’s had more than enough chances over the last three years of his career.

Campbell, who didn't impress either when given the chances(though limited)? Saido is 22 - he's still a kid himself.
