Isnt Henderson on 2 yellow cards and missing the Sweden game?
I hope we play at a higher tempo against Sweden and tire them out. Its not going to be easy but at least we can go into the game with confidence on our side.
Southgate has achieved what was expected i.e. Quarter-Final.

I can't understand this enthusiasm for Loftus Cheek. seems a younger version of the technically very limited Dier to me. Definitely not a starter.

With regard to him being the "weak link" it's certainly not due to his speed as your pundits seem to be suggesting, it's more the fact he lacks the positional awareness to play centre back in this system. He's been caught will the ball more than once at this World Cup. Having said that, his speed is such that he normally atones for any errors.

If/when FM changes his picture back to this one of Ric, you're gonna have to change...it's messing with my head. Mine also.
I keep reading FullerMagic 's posts and thinking: has he had a bang on the head? These are very out of character, nor are they up to the usual standard - and then i realise they are from his avatar smuggler and interloper jwhpotter
As you say: image rights tussle ahead after the WC ; )
Plus Waddlemagic just hasn't got the same ring to it.
Usual standard?! Excuse me 😲

I think we can make it through this one, we should match them physically and for stamina, I think we can out play them. I am a fan of Rashford being introduced second half or 60 minutes, rather than start.

I think our undoing will be when we get barraged by a team who play high tempo and are all out attack. I though Colombia might play in this way but they didn't and it suited us. Any nerves were settled by them choosing to not press the ball and allowing us time to play, especially at the back.
Sweden aren't a team that will press and panic us. I think we'll be comfortable.

Was listening to Sam Allardyce earlier and he reckoned going to two at the back and flooding the attacking options would be the way to go against Sweden, something akin to a 2-5-3 formation or even a 2-4-4.

Alli and Young are seemingly injured, and Lingard and Sterling contributed nothing. Sterling hasn't done anything in any if the games so far but for some reason Southgate keeps picking him. At least 3 changes needed for the Sweden QF. Not sure Dier should be anywhere near the starting 11. Lingard has been our best player over the 4 games, great movement, good in the ball and always back in shape

Sweden wont be easy at all but we have the correct team and formation to break them down.
3-5-2 gives us more options going forward against a flat-back 4.
Wing-backs will be crucial for the width, plus the small guys (Sterling, Lingard, Alli) running at them through the middle should cause problems.
As big as they are they cant afford to hold players at corners as we have 2 penalties from them already.
The tactics are clear for Southgate to employ. Keep it on the ground and at a high-tempo. They will defend deep and play on the break. This is a game we are set-up to play just like Colombia.
I think we are fucked when a team comes at us and tries to attack against our vulnerable defence

I've asked the same question because I've worn the red shirt for the Tunisia and Colombia games and white against Panama so it's obviously what I wear that determines our result. I was wearing my work stuff for the Belgium game so no surprise it was crap.

I have to say the back 3 of Walker-Stones-Maguire have really grown throughout the tournament.
A few sloppy passes aside they have been covering the spaces well and they offer a great attacking threat on corners. I honestly dont think they will be overly worried about Sweden.
The problem against Sweden will be finding a way to score an early goal and making the game more open for our faster players. The longer it is 0-0 the more nervous it becomes.
Sweden will be aiming for a tight 1-0 victory.

I hope they have had shooting practice. All the pressure is on Kane to score. Lingo and Sterly should be contributing more.

Hopefully we can be a bit more ruthless when we are on top. Columbia, and even Tunisia, pegged up back when we were in front and it took a last minute goal and penalties to win the games. I agree Sterling and Lingard could contribute more goals. Sweden don’t score many themselves, but they don’t concede many either. No doubt we’ll get chances..... if we take 50% of them we should win the game.

Yeah I know. I was thinking that but didn't want to say. Since December it's been clear Saturday could well be the day of a quarter final. We thought it'd be against Germany.
