Seems a bit surreal. Against columbia it was nerve wracking, but today I just sat back, relaxed knowing we would win.over the next few days maybe it will sink in.

The Swedes missed Lustig today. Kraft made poor choices (goal 1) and lacked positional sense (g2). Olsen looked the mediocre keeper he is. The substitutions were a bit bizarre. Guidetti is usually a waste of space and if Forsberg was injured (i assume he was) why not Durmitz for more creativity?

This referee has been excellent, and how nice it has been to see two teams try to play football instead of the falling over game. Would be interesting if its a Russia/England Semi Final who the referee will be Trump

That's your problem. One day, hopefully you will understand. To be fair he was shit. Just like the game before. I was answering a post about Ali in general. I think so far he's had a poor World Cup; but he got injured in the first game, which meant he missed the second, and has not been 100% since. But today, although having a slow start, he had a good game. His goal was typical Dele, ghosting in at the far post. Look, I think Sterling has been shit, I can't understand why Southgate keeps starting him; plus I'd pick Danny Rose ahead of Young any day. But, he's (Southgate) the boss, the one in control. We have to trust his judgement (until it all goes tits up).

Rather face Russia.....Croatia are a good side. There’s only one team to fear that’s France when we play them in the final, if we can hold our nerve in the final it’s coming home chaps

Guidetti is usually a waste of space and if Forsberg was injured (i assume he was) why not Durmitz for more creativity? A lot of the Swedish players wasn't up to their standard today, especially defender Augustinsson. Forsberg wasn't injured at all. Why do you think that? I say it again, they should have picked winger Ken Sema in their 23 players squad in June, but didn't, and that exclusion was sensational here. He signed for Watford this week btw, and gk Olsen is reported to be on his way to Barçelona. According to the Sweden team own analysis it was Granqvist's fault, the 1st goal (the corner). He was out of position there.

I really do believe we can do this now. I'm 51 and I need a World Cup win in my life. England need their second World Cup win.

Firstly well done Sweden for coming to play football and not contact karate.
I thought we were poor, giving the ball away far too easy and how many times were we just happy to hit it long back to them. Pickford makes great stops but does not get the ball sideways and safe like Butland does, however I'm glad he's on the pitch as he looks more consistent than Butland.
Harry Maguire take a bow son MOTM for me. Harry Kane and Henderson put in a good shift too. What the f**k anyone sees in Alli or Sterling is beyond me utter crap the pair of them with Lingard little better.
Thought Young had a good game looked really up for it Trippier did well at times but was ponderous and indecisive on a few occasions. Stones and Walker both had solid games.
When harry Kane got that free kick at 93mins 32 seconds then and only then did I think we would win it =)
On we go

Sweden won on the women in the crowd front! I concur. But, from a diversity and inclusive viewpoint, how did the men fare?

Well done England. This is where it becomes difficult IMHO, but they have done well, no doubt. Personally I don't want Russia in the semi, even though I regard Croatia as a better side.

Same here..We'll be playing the crowd & the ref if we play Russia. Croatia are a better team but at least it's 11 v 11 if we play them.

Forsberg was far from his best, but to use essentially a left back and a central defender to replace him unless he was injured makes no sense to me. I doubt Lustig would have headed the ball out for a corner-and he would certainly have been more effective going forward. Yes Sema and/or (I've said this before!) Isak should have been options

I hope we win it for the Spurs lads. They all seem good lads, are very good footballers and deserve something to show for their careers, because let's face it, they'll win naff all at club level.

Answer me this chaps. In an hour will you actually be supporting and hoping Putin gets a result? No. I've been saying since the whole thing kicked off that Putin's already bought it, I'll be delighted (and hoping) to be proved wrong. It'll be interesting to see how Russia defend corners this game, as up to now they seem to be immune to being penalised for wrestling in the same way many others have been.

The subs were under discussion afterwards. And yes, why not go for it all the way? Should have kept Berg, and then Guidetti PLUS Kiese-Thelin perhaps?? Forsberg was replaced by Olsson, who was used in Forsberg's position and sometimes is seen as a midfielder or winger. Guidetti ... it was a long time since he made me happy. Pontus Jansson? Central defender? Maybe the Coach was hoping for corners and headers? Should have gone to 4-3-3.

A rather surreal low key encounter played at a slow pace that entirely suited England, after their exertions against cheating shyster latin Americans. Always looked like England would win it and i was surprised at the end, it was only two nil. So well done England - far further on now than I ever imagined and, cos its making people happy, long may it continue (I still think Ali and Rose are shithouses though)
