Three at the back isn’t necessarily a defensive formation. We’re only playing one DM and it gives the wing backs licence to push on as well. Actually, I'm more concerned that it didn't work as an attacking or defending force. The 3 centre backs looked like they had met each other for the first time and Stirling really offered nothing in the role he was asked to play. They have, it's the first time they had played together (i think) Rose for Young. 50/50 Rashford for Sterling.

I'd like to see Rose in for Young and that's about it really bar RLC. I thought the performance against Tunisia was one of the better England performances in recent years tbh. It just lacked the finishing ability. My only concern is Kane being the only really natural goalscorer we're likely to have on the pitch at any one time. Sterling,Lingard and Alli seem to flatter to deceive in an England shirt, and none are the type of players i feel even 75% confident of scoring when in front of goal As you said, if we'd only been a bit more clinical i think a few countries would have sat back and been surprised and worried about how decent we looked. I was! All those are proven Premier League goalscorers. All young too. Add Rashford and Vardy and that's a fair few players who will score goals at international level. It's the other end that bothers me.

Hazzer is rock solid but others need to score goals too.
Mainly lets get the job done. No pissing about.

From what I have seen three at the back is harder to learn than four and it’s a mess if the CBs are prone to mistakes (e.g. Stones and Wollscheidt)

Sterling needs a good game today, preferably a goal or two would be ideal.

Bit surprised Rose hasn't displaced Young. I know there've been doubts about his fitness, but he looked fine against Costa Rica.
Maybe he thinks Young's set-piece delivery is more valuable given the phenomenal % of goals that are coming from set-pieces in this World Cup?

Just watching sky sports news, they showed footage from the German fanzones in Berlin and Frankfurt, I love seeing the mental (similar to when we had the big screen back at the Brit)
Do we have them anywhere in England?

Starting:
Jack in for Pickford. (Complete bias.)
Rose for Young. (50/50 anyway and despite DR being a massive twot.)
Rashers for Sterling. (RH has been underperforming for England for ever and MR looks like he has goals to me.)
RLC for Alli. (I'd do that anyway; RLC looks the deal and the fabled Alli / Kane thing isn't clicking.)
Subs:
Vardy for Hazzer on after he bags a hat trick.
Plus injuries / niggles.

Want to see Vardy get some game time today as well.
I have a sneaky feeling that Panama will score first and cause panic stations early on.
This WONT be the smooth ride that many are expecting

Good to see Loftus Cheek get a chance. Looked excellent when he came on v Tunisia. Rashford unlucky not to start though I can understand Southgate not wanting to tinker too much.

The press will be after Southgate and England at the earliest opportunity now. England have took the piss out of the press and fed them a false leak with that team sheet on show.
The press won't like that. They thought they had a scoop and ran with it.

Only in England would we use Day of the Lords by Joy Division as music in the BBC buildup, I'm so proud. It's a bit less jolly than Three Lions
