Of course this is a turkey of a link - but if we did let him go (and I think Rowett might be tempted), what does anyone think is a fair price? 5m? For what five million gets you in today's market, I would be tempted to keep him. It's 5m in the kitty to go towards other spots where reinforcements are more needed (like centre back cover and a proper holding midfielder). If it got us most of an Amartey, or half a Pearson (not half a person!), I'd be tempted.

Because Crouch and Saido isn't going to be enough. I actually think Diouf might be alright this season.

I don't think that was ever a side to his game as such, more a complete and utter fluke. Totally in agreement that it was a fluke And thr goalie of City’s U/15s would easily have saved it as well

If Afobe picks up a knock, we’re looking a bit light up front unless Berahino can find his former self. Granted, Diouf isn’t the greatest but he’s show in the past that he’s capable of hitting double-figures at the top level, and is a valuable asset in other areas as well. Not sure we could get much better at that kind of price, and I still think a couple of goals might give him the boost he needs to hit some form at this level.

If players like Choupo-Moting and Diouf are up for the challenge of the Championship then they're definitely worth keeping, cover for both the wide positions and up front.....

I watched quite a few Championship game alive last year at brentford, Fulham and QPR and the gap to the PL is significant. Choupo and Diouf are a level above many players who have done well at this level. Surely ahead of Berahino and not obvious many better options beyond Gayle and Ritchie, both of whom may not be available

Don’t sell Mame!
We lost too much of the right attitude in shipping out Walters and Whelan! We need to keep him as his pace will terrify the Championship!

Leicester interested as a replacement for Musa but they wont pay him more than the wages he is on now which have dropped 50% but still above 30K!!
Serious interest from two championship teams but will not go over two hours from Alderley Edge.
And just if anyone didnt know he got offered 120K a week from China in January and he said no!!!!!

He has a habit of missing sitters but also a habit of being the only player in the team to be in the right position to take the clear cut opportunity - bit of an odd one really. Part of me still thinks he'll tear up the championship with a bit of confidence.

Diouf's problem is confidence-based. There is still the player who once scored 11 PL goals in there, he just never believes he will score. Really frustrating to watch him not just put his foot through the ball when it comes to him across the box like that: it quite literally only needed a straight-forward touch to go in.
But I'm honestly not suggesting that we should keep faith in him and keep giving him chances until one goes in. This situation with him has gone on for too long and we cannot afford to be carrying players this season. This is our best ever chance to go up, get it wrong and the best players will leave in the summer while the club are forced to operate under tighter financial constraints.
On that basis, I don't know why we've still only signed one striker. Diouf and Berahino are honestly not fit for purpose. Scary and disappointing to be sat here eight days before our season starts and wondering if he 'transfer team' are just making the same old mistakes again. This summer window was a market where we really could/should have been a bit aggressive in targeting some of the better young players from established Championship sides and gotten our way more often than not, and we haven't done that at all.

And he takes home 50k a week? When you think about it he will probably earn in 10 weeks that us mere mortals earn in a lifetime. Scandalous.
